In this Konami classic, you play as Richter Belmont in his quest to save the villagers and confront Dracula as is the destiny of your bloodline. The game is semi-linear. All stages have 2 exits & bosses, which greatly enhances replayabilty. Each exit will then lead to their own specific route. Most of these exits are quite well-hidden. There are 4 villagers hidden in the game which you can rescue. One of them is Maria, an unlockable playable character. She's a small girl who uses animals to help her fight.
This masterpiece is wellknown for its great musical score, diverse and unique enemies, many stages, endings and high replayabilty. It sets the story for its famous direct sequel Symphony of the Night (PSX/Saturn).

When he encounters a [ ! ] sign, the first chosen action is performed. The second [ ! ] sign he encounters will make him perform the second action. by selecting in advance the correct actions, the monkey will reach the finish avoiding all enemies and hazards. Pick incorrectly, and he'll get stuck or killed. Depending on how well you did, you will earn money which you can use to purchase different types furniture for your house as decoration.

Beyond Shadowgate

Beyond Shadowgate is the sequel to the 1987 point and click adventure game Shadowgate. You take on the role of prince Erik, a descendant of Jair from Shadowgate. Erik is framed for his father's murder and thrown in jail by the King's advisor, Belezaar. Erik must escape and save his sister and the kingdom.
The perspective is different from the original game, this time it's a 3rd person view. You use the D-pad to move Erick around and by pressing Select, you brink up the cursor to manipulate objects on screen in true point and click fashion. There is also fighting in this game. Your health is not shown but if you clearly take too much damage you will die. There are also many ways to instantly die in this game, some are downright funny (the game has a sense of humor at some points).

Blood Gear

YES

A VERY OBSCURE side-scrolling action RPG where you're a pilot of a mech. You walk around in towns talking to people and buying upgrades. In action sequences the game plays like Assault Suit Valken / Cybernator games. As you gain EXP you can buy better weaponry and parts, this is your first priority as you start out unarmed and weak. You are Aref, out to avenge the death of your scientist friend by the hand of your brother Rakuh (the bad hairstyle guy). I hear the game's plot is pretty good, too bad I can't read it.:weep:

Bomberman '94 Taikenban

NO

NO

Bonanza Bros. is an arcade that has been ported to several home systems. Robo and Mobo are thieves who break in high security buildings to steal items. You have to avoid or attack guards to advance. There are also traps set which can work on the thieves as well as guards. This game is an excellent 2-player game where co-op makes the game more fun, requiring strategy to get out of the buildings as quick as possible.

Bonk 3: Bonk's Big Adventure 3

A 2D platformer featuring Bonk in his adventures against the Evil King Drool in the Dinosaur Kingdom. Getting special candies transforms Bonk in many ways. From shrinking down to growing gigantic and getting diverse offensive powers.

NO

Melba has to rescue his kidnapped girlfriend. But you don't control him, he just keeps walking to the right. You have to help him avoid any traps by moving bricks and ramps to let him walk over chasms, lakes of fire, mines, and so on. Be careful because you can crush Melba with these objects.  Other objects such as knives and helmets can be used to prevent Melba from being killed by any creatures.
Sadly, this game is far too difficult and the levels are too long. You die or get stuck way too easily.

Bunilla Syndrome Mahjong

NO

Mahjong game where you play against various women dressed as bunnies, cats, other animals or mystical creatures. You get to see a big pic of them posing if you win. No, they're not naked. You are a pervert if you think they would be.:-P

Burai - Hachigyoku no Yuushi Densetsu

YES

An RPG game, also released on SegaCD, MSX, PC, SNES, PC-98 and FM Towns.
For such a multi-system released game, I sure can't find any decent info about it or figure out what to do at the very start of the game. A planet named Cyprus, army of the darkness, child of light and his three bodyguards. That is all.

Burai II - Yami Koutei no Gyakushuu

YES

The sequel to an RPG game I have no idea what it's about and what to do at the beginning. Same story with this one. Some Dark Emperor returns. That is all.

Buster Bros.

Japanese release title: Pomping World.
A classic multi-platform game, known better as Pang. 1 or 2 players shoot at dangerous bouncing balls of all sizes and each popped ball splits up in more balls until they're all small enough to be popped away. Each location has a unique background that shows the area’s most famous landmarks. The stages contain a different layout of blocks, some that disappear after being shot, others that do not, and still others that are hidden and can reveal bonuses. Various powerups help the player survive longer.
Cal II

YES

A text adventure game. Also released on the MSX.

Cal III

YES

The sequel. Also a text adventure game.

It's up to Byron to find the tires so he can travel around and rescue his friends, who will become playable characters as well. Each has his own special skill to get around in the stages.

Cardangels

NO

A strip blackjack game. You naughty naughty boy:lol:

CD Battle Hikari no Yuushatachi

NO

This is one of those games that generates random data based on the music CD you insert. It's a simple battle system like early Final Fantasy games where it's a 3-on-3 fight. The area, the type of classes and attack they can do is all determinded by the audio CD.

CD Bishoujo Pachinko Kyuuma Yon Shimai

YES

It's Pachinko.......BORING!

CD Denjin Rockabilly Tengoku

NO

US release title: Super Air Zonk - Rockabilly Paradise
Zonk's design is that of a cybernetic Bonk the caveman. This horizontal shoot'em up can be considered a cute'em up. Character designs are all colorful and cartoonie. You have friends that you rescue and assist you with extra firepower or merge with you which makes you transform into a vehicle of sort, a helicopter or battleship or satellite and many more.

CD Hanafuda Bishoujo Fan Club

NO

Hanafuda game. Girls strip when they lose of course....

CD Mahjong Bishoujo Chuushinha

NO

As expected of these Game Express games, Mahjong = NAKED GIRLS!:innocent:

A slot machine game. I think the girls strip in this one too. I couldn't be bothered to find out, this one is really boring.

NO

A very plain subpar Micro Machines clone.

Chiki Chiki Boys

NO

This platform game is about two twins who want to free their land Alurea from Evil. Supports simultaneous 2 player action.

Chou Aniki

NO

The first Cho Aniki game. Good thing the sequels didn't use small sprites like this one.

Chou Eiyuu Denstsu - Dynastic Hero

YES

US release title: The Dynastic Hero.
This is one of Wonder Boy's Monster World sub-series games. The evil Drillkor Empire attacks the woodland Tarron and Dyna must save the princess and get rid of evil etc etc. The game is one huge map you can explore as you wish  and more areas become available as you get the proper powerups and items, just like Metroid.

Choujikuu Yousai Macross 2036

NO

The game plays like the U.N. Squadrion on the SNES / Carrier Air Wing on arcade. You get EXP destroying the enemy and use that to buy a subweapon. But unlike the aformentioned games, you have unlimited use of it, it just uses a gauge to show you how many times you can use it before the gauge fills up. (It goes back down slowly). You can't transform during the game and in boss battles you automatically stay into Battroid mode. But the game is still great because it's fast paced, has excellent audio music and has anime cutscenes between the levels.

Choujikuu Yousai Macross - Eien no Love Song

YES

Turn-based grid strategy. It plays like the Super Robot Taisen series. Battles are shown with enemies rushing towards each other with guns and missiles blazing. Between missions there are anime cutscenes to progress the story.

Cobra - Kokuryuuou no Densetsu

YES

This is the first videogame made of Space Adventure Cobra. It's a digital novel and plays just like Snatcher, the combat sequences are still text-based though.

Cobra II - Densetsu no Otoko

YES

The sequel. Cobra's arch-nemesis Crystal Boy makes his appearance. So do the Royal Sisters with their mysterious map-tattoos. This version was released in English on the SegaCD as The Space Adventure Cobra: The Legendary Bandit.

Color Wars

NO

It's Reversi / Othello but in 3D and with multiple players. Only master puzzle gamers need apply. You can rotate the view around to help you view the area with better precision.

Cosmic Fantasy - Bouken Shounen Yuu

YES

Your standard J-RPG game but set in a space sci-fi era. You play as Yu and you're out to save planet Nog from evil and become a Cosmic Knight. You meet various friends and foes along your journey. For a PCE-CD game, the graphics are quite a letdown. But the music and anime cutscenes are a plus.

Cosmic Fantasy 2 - Bouken Shounen Ban (J) / Cosmic Fantasy 2

YES

This game takes place in the same universe as the previous game even though this time it's about completely different characters. They will meet each other in the future sequels. CF 1 & 2 were released together on a single CD for the SegaCD (only in Japan).
Van witnesses his friend Laura getting kidnapped and his village burned down. So the chase is on and he meets allies and uncovers more of the plot as he goes along. This game actually has 2 playable characters with their own stories and time travel is involved. The monster encounter rate is annoyingly high in this game.

Cosmic Fantasy 3 - Bouken Shounen Rei

YES

This time you play as Rei and you travel around the world Aira fighting space pirates. Along the way you meet characters like Nyu the cat (related to the cat in CF2?) and the showdown with the demon Garuda. Just like the previous game, encounter rates are ridiculously high. There is no overworld map, so you walk around in real time.

Cosmic Fantasy IV - Ginga Shounen Densetsu Totsunyuu Hen

YES

Cosmic Fantasy 4 is divided in two games. Ginga Shounen Densetsu Totsunyuu Hen is chapter 1. You take up the role of the hero of the first game, Yu. He and his magician comrade Saya and their friends must go to the planet Kazarin where the princess Saria was kidnapped. And as usual, more plot gets revealed as the game moves along. Both chapters of CF4 are a hybrid of digital comic/RPG. There are points where you just talk alot and move around with text commands and later the view switches to an RPG overhead style with its combat system.

Cosmic Fantasy IV - Ginga Shounen Densetsu Gekitou Hen

YES

The second chapter of Cosmic Fantasy 4 picks up right where the first chapter ended. After the brave deeds of Yu and his team on the planet Kazarin the game switches over to Van, the hero from CF2, who must fight demon warriors who threaten the galaxy.

Cotton - Fantastic Night Dreams

NO

An evil mist covered the entire world in darkness. A selfish witch named Cotton comes upon a fairy crying in the woods.  Cotton doesn't care that the world is covered in darkness. The only thing she wants is to eat Willows. So the fairy tricks cotton to rid the world of the evil mist in return for Willows, which the bosses drop. Both versions of the game have the choice of selecting US/JP/CHI languages despite their region. The Japanese version however has spoken dialogue while the US version doesn't. And the "Bonus round" is called "Tea Time" in JP version. That's all the difference I noticed.

Crazy Hospital - Fushigi no Kuni no Tenshi

YES

An unlicenced fanmade game that is just a text adventure. Supposedly there is nudity in it but I didn't really care because this looks crappy and is very slowpaced.:-/

Crest of Wolf

NO

US release title: Riot Zone
This is Hudson Soft's attempt at a Final Fight clone. Some might remember this game for its bad sound effects. The game gets repetitive quick enough fighting the same guys over and over. It's too easy. The bosses are the only real challenge.

Cyber City OEDO 808

YES

Based on the cyberpunk anime of the same name, it takes place in 2808 in the megalopolis of Oedo. To combat computerised crime more effectively, the Cyber Police unit has begun to employ hardened criminals with a history of hi-tech offences and other crimes such as murder. Three such criminals are Sengoku, Gogol and Benten who are serving their 300-or-more year sentences in an orbital penitentiary. For duty served, each criminal will receive a reduction in their prison time. They cannot escape or their neck collars will explode. It's a text-based adventure.

Daisenpuu Custom

NO

Generic shoot'em up. Nothing special about it. Only one type of bullet which can be upgraded but it's not very noticable. Enemies are mostly tanks. The game is very hard due to your plane not moving fast enough.

Daisenryaku II - Campaign Version

YES

Just like Military Madness/Nectaris, the Daisenryaku series is a turn-based war sim. But instead of square grids, it uses hexagons; You can attack/defend from six angles instead of four. Daisenryaku has been released over the years on many systems, but they all stayed in Japan. The original Xbox is the only one that I know of that got an official English port and the Saturn got one re-titled "Iron Storm".
There are many campaigns to choose from. You start out with a base and buy military vehicles and aircraft to start conquering cities just like your opponent. The more you conquer, the more money you earn to buy more troops. And when combat begins it is shown in a split screen. Each type of unit has its pros and cons against other enemy units. Terrain plays a role too. only veteran strategy gamers need apply. These campaigns last DAYS!

The Davis Cup Tennis

NO

Tennis game which supports up to 4 players.

De Ja

YES

A text adventure game. I have no idea what it's about but you clearly play some sort of archeologist / detective solving mysteries and whatever. You get to talk to alot of women and often end up in risque situations with them; no nudity though. Every single line has its spoken dialogue.

Dead of the Brain 1 & 2

YES

Two text adventure games in one, this is the last PCE game released. It plays just like Snatcher. The first game features zombies, the second game has terminator-like cyborgs, drugs and who knows what else. The game is best played with its mouse support.

Death Bringer - The Knight of Darkness

YES

RPG game where navigation resembles early Might & Magic games. Combat switches to an overhead view and you have limited control over your characters, you use a cursor to give directions. There is also a SegaCD version of this game but the character design is more anime-ish.

Dekoboko Densetsu - Hashire Wagamanma

NO

Racing game where the cars are armed and shoot each other. The courses are riddled with an incredible amount of obstacles. You can upgrade your car between races by using your winnings. Up to 5 players can play together. The game can be quite hard at times.

Dennou Tenshi - Digital Angel

YES

Text adventure with anime chicks in giant mechas. That is all.

Develo Magazine Volume I

YES

A developer CD I guess. Contains: Fray CD Xak Gaiden, Popful Mail demo, Develo Assembly Game, BASIC games and BASIC Tool DVSSE.

Develo Starter Kit - Assembler

YES

Another developer disc, this one for Assembler language.

Develo Starter Kit - Basic

YES

....aaaand this one for BASIC.

Doraemon Nobita no Dorabian Night

NO

A simple platformer featuring the famous robotic cat from the future Doraemon. The game takes place through several time periods, from dinosaurs to arabian nights. Each stage has a boss that needs to be defeated to rescue one of Doraemon's friends.

Double Dragon II - The Revenge

NO

This is basically an enhanced version of NES Double Dragon II. There are similarities in some stages. One move was added that when an enemy grabs you from behind, you can get free by kicking in front of you (hitting anybody who was about to punch you) and then throwing your grabber over you shoulder. The sprites are bigger and more colorful. There are animated cutscenes between levels and 3 endings depending on the difficulty.

Doukyuusei

YES

"Doukyuusei" means classmate. A popular dating game. It runs in realtime, even staying still in one place and the hours still fly by and the sun eventually sets. I actually got locked up in the school this way. That's pretty dynamic for a dating sim.

Download II

NO

A good horizontal shoot'em up. The last boss appears to be Hitler.Where have I heard that before?

Downtown Nekketsu Koushinkyoku - Soreyuke Daiundoukai

NO

This nekketsu game features Nekketsu High competing against three other teams (Hanazono, Reiho, and an inter-school union) in a series of four athletic events. Think of it like an urban olympic track meet across rooftops all the way down to the sewers. Up to four players can participate. It's pretty fun, best played with human opponents for maximum party game enjoyment.

Downtown Nekketsu Monogatari  >

YES

River City Ransom! If you never heard of this game, WHERE HAVE YOU BEEN!?
It plays kinda like double dragon but with more interesting characters who actually have lines. There are many weapons you can pick up and use or throw, even enemies bodies can be hurled across the screen. Items and special moves can be purchased in malls to replenish health and stats. A direct NES port with upgraded graphics and audio. A must get!

Dragonball Z - Idainaru Son Gokuu Densetsu

NO

This is a special kind of fighting game. You don't directly control the attack moves but isntead input them in advance (offense, defense, neutral or fireball) and hold the I button and get in a tug-o-war sorts of match. You decide how much power you want to use in your moves as well. It's a very strategic type of fighting game. The animation is pretty well done. The game stars Goku from his Dragonball young boy era all the way to Dragonball Z to fight Cell.

Dragon Half

YES

A board game where teams of four compete against each other in an RPG-type fashion. Dragon Half is a manga. That's all I got.:-/

Dragon Knight & Grafitti

YES

A remake of the first Dragon Knight game (came out first on DOS) with upgraded graphics and audio, ironically it was the last released one on the PCE. The grafitti section of the game is a gallery that shows screenshots of all the girls of Dragon Knight 1-3.
Strawberry Fields was ruled by queen Luna and populated only by women. The Goddess Tower protected them. Then a dragon got in the tower and evil took over. It's up to you to save all the damsels in distress.

Dragon Knight II

YES

The game takes place in the same tower as the first game. But this time Mesaanya the witch took over. She turned all the women into monsters. So when Takeru fights them, they lose their clothing as they take damage. No, there is no frontal nudity, you perv.:-P All Dragon Knight games on the PCE are heavily censored. For nakedness, play the DOS versions. Your main goal is to find sacred objects which will permanently free the girls from their monster form, resulting in one monster type less in the dungeon and avery grateful girl. After clearing the dungeon of all monstergirls, you can face Mesaanya.

Dragon Knight III

YES

Better known in the West as "Knights of Xentar" for DOS, the only English translated Dragon Knight game. After liberating Strawberry Fields from the previous games, Takeru gets robbed at the start of the game of all his possessions, even his clothes! So the first task for the unsuccessful hero will be to get some money. Luckily, the mayor has an assignment for you, for which he is also willing to pay. The mayor is not who he seems to be and that's when all hell breaks loose.
This version of the game plays completely different than Knight of Xentar. Combat is in first person like the Dragon Quest games. IMO this game plays much better than Knights of Xentar. There are single equipment upgrades at each store per character instead of a whole long list. The grinding is more forgiving and the game is less hard (it's still hard, just not as frustrating like KoX). The graphics and music are pretty good. Also, the normal monsters are all different here too. Most of them are all women dressed up as monsters. No, you don't get to see them naked:-P, there are plenty of willing girls elsewhere already showing fan service. A nice touch I liked is that your sprites' clothes adapt to the armor you are wearing. I liked the game so much I ended up playing it all the way to the end in what was supposed to be a trial run and the inability to read japanese at all!

Dragon Slayer - Eiyuu Densetsu / The Legend of Heroes

YES

After the kingdom is attacked by monsters and the king is killed, baron Drax takes over as ruler since the king's heir, prince Logan, is too young to be king. He is sent to the island Exile for safety until his 16th birthday when he will be crowned king.
Obviously Drax has other plans and that's where the adventure starts. The game plays like the classical early J-RPG games.

Dragon Slayer - Eiyuu Densetsu II

YES

Atlas is the son of the hero from the first game. Atlas and his teacher Lowel spot men in spacesuits outside of town. Obviously to them, they look like monsters to them and the plot goes from there. The game is very slow-paced. It took me several hours just to get throught the prologue, fighting only slimes and earning some little money. The real game starts when you reach chapter 1, by that time I got tired of the game already. The long boring prologue was a major buzzkill.

Dungeon Explorer II

YES

Think of this like Gauntlet with an RPG formula. Up to 4 players can play together traversing dungeons and castles fighting mosters and bosses. You always fullfill quests, talk to townspeople and go to new lands and explore the world. It's very interactive and you can unlock many more characters and play as them. Each is their own class (fighter, thief, wizard, etc) and has his/her own attacks. Besides the main quest of the same "getting rid of evil" formula, there are many side quests as well.

Dungeon Master - Theron's Quest

YES

Dungeon Master is a mouse-cursor based dungeon crawler RPG. The combat is real-time so you have to be quick issuing commands to party members. You are Theron, since you missed your town's festival where all young boys celebrate their passing into manhood, you are not considered a man..........right. So for some crazy reason you have a second chance to prove yourself by venturing into 7 deadly dungeons filled with monsters and to stop an evil cult from unleashing evil. Apparently that is the equivalent of attending a festival. ANYWAYS, each dungeon starts out with you resurrecting legendary heroes who will join you for that dungeon. The goal in each dungeon is to find holy weapons, armors and items by fighting monsters and solving puzzles.

The Dynastic Hero

Japanese release title: Chou Eiyuu Denstsu - Dynastic Hero
This is one of Wonder Boy's Monster World sub-series games. The evil Drillkor Empire attacks the woodland Tarron and Dyna must save the princess and get rid of evil etc etc. The game is one huge map you can explore as you wish  and more areas become available as you get the proper powerups and items, just like Metroid.
Efera & Jiliora - The Emblem from Darkness

YES

Standard action RPG, plays like Ys (except you swing your sword). Grindig is a must to survive the game's difficult nature. I have no idea what the game is about but it supports 2 player co-op. There are some interesting cutscenes but I wish the sprites were bigger and better animated.

Eikan ha Kimini - Koukou Yakyuu Zenkoku Taikai

YES

A baseball manager simulation game. You set up schedules, trainings, hire/fire players, look at stats, etc. And then sit back and watch the game, you don't play it directly yourself.

Eiyuu Sangokushi

YES

War & political strategy based on the Romance of the Three Kingdoms. I swear it's like this game series was released on every game system.

Emerald Dragon

YES

Also released on the SNES, PC98, FM-Towns (best version!) and MSX. This is a very underrated obscure RPG game with a small devoted fanbase. Hundreds of years ago, a massive battle was waged. The Emerald Dragon was the champion of the dragons. After the war the Emerald Dragon died and a curse fell over the land, instantly killing every last dragon in it. Now, the last dragons live in Dragulia, an island beyond the reach of the curse. A shipwreck that landed on the island had a human girl in it, the emerald haired child is raised amongst them and called Tamryn. She longs for her human home but finds it ruined, she calls for help from her dragon friend Atrushan, but he can't leave the island because of the curse so he's turned into a human. The story is full of dramatic twists, as Atrushan has to learn what it means to be a human, and the greatest secret of all, Tamryn’s true identity.

Emerald Dragon Taikenban

YES

The collector's disc of the game. You can watch all the visual scenes in the game, listen to the sountrack and read commentary on each song, play all the mini-games and there's voiced character profiles for all the major players in the storyline. There's a "limited demo" of the actual game on the disc. You are able to play from the start of the game, up through Zama Fortress, but Save and Load are disabled.

Exile / Exile - Toki no Hasama He

YES

You are Sadler. The king of a tribe of desert people that are fighting against the Luciel army. He journeys around the world with the Grand Master of the
Knights Templar to try and end religious strife which is covering the world in warfare and find the Holimax. The game has many religious overtones which got censored in the english versions. The EXP level up system is similar to Ys and the fighting is a basic platformer. The overhead map mode is just to walk around and talk to people. Nothing special there. This is basically a genesis port with upgraded graphics and audio.

Exile: Wicked Phenomenon / Exile 2: Janen no Jishou

YES

Choas roams over the lands and it is rumored that an ancient tower is the source of all this chaos. Sadler and his companions, who are now playable characters, venture forth to see what evil lies in that tower. You can change characters during action scenes at will, each has his/her own strenght and weaknesses. it is said that English localization is alot harder than the Japanese version.

F1 Circus Special - Pole to Win

NO

A simple overhead F1 racing game where you select drivers and teams and tinker around with your car settings before starting the race. The car controls simple enough, you just drive forward making sharp turns, sometimes even 90 degree ones.

F1 Team Simulation Project F

YES

An F1 manager simulation game where you make decisions about money, drivers, technicians, etc. You view the races from a map screen.

Faceball

NO

FPS deathmatch in its infancy. The characters are all big smilie faces, shaped differently (round, star, mushroom, cube). You run around in a maze hunting each other down. The more damage somebody takes, the more broken the smilie face will appear. The goal is to kill your opponent 5 times to win. In Race Mode, it plays like capture the flag. You capture small spheres who will follow you around and bring them to the goal for points. It's possible to shoot your opponent and steal his spheres too. Simple fun game with catchy music tunes.

Faceball Taikenban

NO

Sample disc of Faceball. There is only one maze available and no Race Mode.

Faerie Dust Story - Meikyuu no Elfeene

YES

I....have no idea what this RPG game is about. From the looks of it, you're an idol who gets magically transported to another world or something.

Fantasy Star Soldier

Japanese release title: Star Parodia.
This is a prototype as Star Parodia was never officially released in the US.
Taking a cue from the Parodius series, Hudson Soft made one of their own! You play this cute'em up as Bomberman, a PC-Engine system and Paro Ceaser (parody of the Star Soldier ship). The entire game is made up of cameos of from these characters' games, even the power ups. Bomberman obviously throws bombs while the PC-Engine shoots CDs and has small gamepads as fire support.

Farjius no Jakoutei - Neo Metal Fantasy

YES

Your standard fare fantasy sci-fi RPG where magic and science coexist, cyborgs, giant mechas, etc. Evil rears its ugly head once more and Atima, a young girl from the magician guild, is entrusted with a highly important task of reviving Dimeora, the legendary hero who is the only one who can defeat the Emperor of Evil. But things take an unexpected turn as Atima is kidnapped by the Emperor, and the revived Dimeora has to find his way alone in this new world.

Fausseté Amour

NO

Mix Ghouls 'n Ghost and Bionic Commando, and you get Fausseté Amour. Coruk is a girl in armor who attacks with a spear chain. Besides a weapon, it is also a grappling hook used to swing around to reach other places. When Coruk gets hit, she loses her armor, one more hit after that and she dies (and lies all naked on the ground:lol: ). Get used to seeing her without armor, this game is tough.

Fiend Hunter

NO

An action/adventure game that plays like Prince of Persia with some RPG elements.
You walk around town talking to people and buying items at first then you venture out in the wilderness to fight monsters and enemies. Moving around is just like PoP, walking & running, hanging on ledges and timing your jumps. When you encounter an enemy, you automatically go in battle mode with your energy sword. What really really got my attention that there is one unique enemy per fight in the entire game. You never encounter the same monster twice (40 total).

Fighting Street

NO

This is it! The very first! Street Fighter 1!
You play only as Ryu in his fight to become the best fighter in the world. Ryu's three trademark moves are all here. In 2 player mode, the other player will be Ken. Besides them, other characters made their first appearance in this game: Gen, Birdie, Eagle, Adon and Sagat. There are bonus rounds involving breaking wood and concrete. The game suffers from unresponsive controls though. That's because they ported it from the arcade version which uses special force-sensitive controls (the force you use to press the buttons decides what type of attack you will come out), something a gamepad cannot do.

Final Zone II

NO

You are colonel Haward Bowie, elite soldier of the Federation's top fighting unit.  You are on a mission to stop ZOD, a secret military organization.  You must lead your power-armored troops to defeat defeat the man in charge of ZOD, Alif Ruman, for some payback after they destroyed your main unit at the beginning of the game. Bowie's unit got split apart and they must find each other. So you play the game as different units, each with their own weapons. At some point you get to choose who you play as after the units encounter each other again. The gameplay is just like Commando.

Fire Pro Jyoshi - Dome Chojyo Taisen

NO

A women's wrestling game with the roster from both All Japan Women's Pro Wrestling and JWP. It's a SNES port. There is 1-on-1 and tag team modes and edit moves for the wrestler. The moves are time-based rather than button mashing.

Flash Hiders

NO

The fighting game prequel of Battle Tycoon: Flash Hiders SFX (SNES). There is a scenario mode, advanced mode and versus mode. In scenario mode you only play as Bang to advance the story, in advance mode you can select anybody and you fight the rest, you can gain stat points to add to your offense, defense, speed.
It's an average 2D fighting game like any other.

Flash Hiders Taikenban

NO

Sample disc of Flash Hiders where only 4 players are selectable to fight each other.

Forgotten Worlds

NO

Dust World, a city reduced to rubble by the evil god Bios. Go defeat him by flying around shooting everything that moves. You can find a shop in all levels where you can buy upgrade weapons and items.
This is the arcade port. The genesis version had simplified levels, some even removed. The 2-player coop sadly is not present in the PCE version.
Trivia: the blonde player is the helper "Unknown Soldier" in Marvel vs Capcom.

Formation Soccer '95 - Della Serie A

YES

It's a good football game. What else is there to say?

Fray CD Xak Gaiden

NO

As the "gaiden" implies, Fray CD is a side story of the main game series "Xak".
Fray is a girl who gets rescued by Xak's main hero, Latok, during the events of the first Xak game. She gets a crush on him and decides to learn magic to be useful to him. This game takes place during Xak II, Fray is searching for Latok.
The game is an action RPG but you only move straight forward, there is no exploration involved. There are some towns between levels where you interact with townspeople and buy items.

Fushigi no Umi no Nadia

YES

Better known in the West as "Nadia: The Secret of Blue Water", the game is based on the characters from the anime series. This is another text adventure game where you make choices to advance.

Gain Ground SX

NO

In Gain Ground, players control one of a set of characters at a time. There are twenty characters, each with different weapons, strenghts and weaknesses. To beat a level, players must reach the exit point with at least one character or destroy all enemies in the level before time runs out. The 2-player mode from the SMS and Genesis versions is not present in this one.

Galaxy Keiji Gayvan

NO

A side-scrolling beat'em up, supports 2-players. There the main game and also a versus mode where you can also select the bad guys to fight with. The main game is a beat'em up with only one layer, meaning you can't walk up and down like other games of the genre. That makes the game surprisingly very challenging. You have special moves you can execute with combination of the D-pad+buttons and even let armor appear around you, which slowly drains its own energy away. The sprites are very well animated, a must get.

Gambler Jikochuushinha

NO

A mahjong variation board game I am unfamiliar with. The rar files are titled "Gyuwanburaa Jikochuushinha" in case you're wondering why you can't find them.

Gambler Jikochuushinha - Mahjong Puzzle Collection

NO

A puzzle game that uses Mahjong tiles. The goal is to remove matching tiles which can be connected to each other by 3-jointed (or less) straight line. This line may only pass over empty space, not over other Mahjong tiles.

Ganchouhishi - Aoki Ookami to Shiroki Mejika

YES

Another war / political strategy based on Romance of the 3 Kingdoms.

Garou Densetsu II - Aratanaru Tatakai

NO

The wellknown SNK fighting game where characters can jump between 2 separate planes to battle each other.

Garou Densetsu II - Aratanaru Tatakai - Sample Disc

NO

A sample disc.

Garou Densetsu Special

NO

Arcade conversion of the SNK fighter. You can play as the bosses in this one.

Gate of Thunder

NO

Hawk, a space cop, must stop General Don Jingi and his Obellon army from taking a powerful energy source called "Starlight" from the planet of Aries. Gate of Thunder is a classic shmup game with great music (Best Music for a CD Game 1992 EGM). The game challenge is perfectly balanced, not too hard or too easy. The visuals are pleasing to the eye, small and big enemies, great powerups.

Genocide

NO

A 2D action game where you're a giant robot armed withonly a sword while everybody else is armed with guns....yeah, it's one of those impossibly hard games. Nothing special.

Gensou Tairiku Auleria

YES

Auleria is a side scrolling action RPG set in a medieval fantasy world. Your character returns home and finds his village destroyed. Revenge time I guess. The game is a 2D action RPG game. You only go left and right pretty much all the time (only buildings have stairs). The good thing about leveling up, at certain exp levels, weaker enemies simply stop appearing, making backtracking to early levels alot easier. You will encounter other characters who will also be playable. The game plays decently though your attack hit detection can be off sometime, a couple of enemies move very fast in a frame-skipping way.

Ginga Fukei Densetsu Sapphire

NO

In 2092 timetravel has become a reality. In order to keep this power from being abused, a special police force was established made up of 4 girls each with their own ship. Their goal is to stop a group of mysterious time terrorists who always seem to be one time zone ahead of them. Each has its own characteristics and there are 3 weapon powerups available. Sapphire is a gem in the PCE CD collection, it was released in very small quantities and fetch a hefty sum in online auctions. There is a bootleg version too (also present in this torrent). What is so unique about this game (besides just being awesome for a 2-player shmup game) is it has polygon rendered models on bosses which are fluidly animated. This shows what the arcade card is truly capable of.

Ginga Ojousama Densetsu Yuna

YES

Better known in the West as "Galaxy Fraulein Yuna". The main character of the series is Kagurazaka Yuna, a somewhat ditzy 16-year old girl. After winning a "Galactic Bishoujo Contest", she becomes "The Savior of Light", a magical girl charged with defending the universe from evil. Afterwards, Yuna gains an impressively powerful armored suit. She battles other girls with similar armors and befriends them after defeating them. It's all text-based.

Ginga Ojousama Densetsu Yuna 2 - Eien no Princess

YES

(Galaxy Fraulein Yuna II: Eternal Princess). Yuna's adventure continues as she is joined by her new friend, the android Yuri Cube. She must rescue earth from being destroyed by Princess Mirage, who uses her spaceship "Eternal Princess" to destroy planets involved in interplanetary wars from growing into larger threats.

Ginga Ojousama Densetsu Yuna - HuVideo CD

NO

Included in re-release Ginga Ojousama Densetsu Yuna. This disc contains artwork of all the girls in the Yuna games.

Go! Go! Birdie Chance

YES

An all-girl golf game. It has actually 3 genres in one game. There's the text adventure mode where you walk around talking to people, a training sim where you plan the girl's shedule which will improve or worsen her stats (like Tokimeki Memorial) and the golf game.

God Panic - Shijyou Saikyo Gundan

NO

A shmup where you're a flying ninja and attack funny-looking enemies with even funnier-looking backgrounds.

Godzilla / Godzilla - Bakutou Retsuden

YES

A brawler featuring Godzilla and all his famous rival monsters (15 of them). In the main game, you play only as Godzilla and you can select what monsters you fight using a branching path mode. The score system has a purpose, the more health and time you have left after each fight, the more points you get. After you finish the game, you can unlock more enemy monsters for Versus Mode. The higher tier monsters require alot of points to unlock. The Japanese version has a few quizes as bonus rounds for a chance to gain extra points. This was removed from the US version, which is a dumb move. Even with perfect health in all fights as fast as possible, you will NEVER get enough points to unlock the highest tier monsters (I did it using save states) like Super Mechagodzilla. The game is kinda cheap though, you'll die alot until you figure out how to beat each monster.

Golden Axe

NO

An evil entity made up of snakes known as Death Adder has captured the King and his daughter and holds them captive in their castle. You select one of three characters to battle against his minions. But about the game......wow. They did everything wrong! The graphics, the music, the sound are all so inferior to the Genesis version. This is supposed to be a CD game? The sprites are so small and the challenge isn't even there. It's just BAD!

Gotzendiener

NO

Now here's an original game. Instead of being the shining knight rescuing the princess, he gets killed right at the beginning of the game. The princess has to fight the monsters and survive on her own. Talk about emancipation and girl power! This "Prince of Persia"-like isometric adventure game has mostly exploration and puzzle solving and some monster fighting in between. The bad point of this game is that it was clearly rushed and not playtested properly. There are bugs and there are odd holes in the plot, leading to think that the game was initially meant to be much longer than this. Still, it was a nice pace of change playing as the "helpless" princess for once.

Gradius II - Gofer no Yabou  >

NO

Gradius sequel with more weapons, better graphics, bigger levels, bigger and more varied bosses, more difficult........IT'S GRADIUS! What more do you want me to say??:w00t:

GS Mikami

YES

Ghost Sweeper Mikami, originally an manga then an anime series about a girl who exorcises ghosts with the help of her assistants, teenage boy Tadao Yokoshima and the ghostgirl Okinu. The game features characters from the series fighting each other using a card system. Each card represents types of offense, defense, healing, etc. It's prety much like a sort of rock, paper, scissors formula. You cannot see what cards your opponents has and which ones he/she is going to use. You both put up a card and the one card who trumps the other has the advantage. If both cards are the same, both players take damage.

Gulclight TDF 2

YES

A turnbased grid strategy game where you control sci-fi jets and tanks against monsters. This is a bad game, your units are very weak and the monsters have alot of health. Bad gameplay, bad graphics, just a bad game overall.
Hatsukoi Monogatari

YES

It seems to be the same story of Dennou Tenshi with the same characters (look under D above). But this time it's more a text game/stat raising sim or something, I dunno.

Hawiian Island Girls

Just like Bikini Girls (look under B above), 38 crappy low quality pics of girls in bikini. In this one most of them are naked. meh:-/

Hawk F-123

NO

Horizontal shmup in the vein like U.N. Sqaudron on the SNES. Not as pretty-looking but enjoyable nonetheless. Challenging enough to keep you flying till the end accompanied with great music.

Hellfire S - The Another Story

NO

Shoot'em up where your ship can switch firing direction. Horizontal, vertical and diagonal. You have absolutely no blind spot. This kinda makes the game too easy for experienced shmup players. A good game anyway.

High Grenadier

YES

Turn-based strategy game. There's alot of text in this one, I couldn't even figure out many things on how to play properly.

Hihou Densetsu Chris no Bouken

NO

A regular platformer, you're a girl with a sword. I have no info about the story and can't make out what is going on in the cutscenes.

Hi-Leg Fantasy

YES

That's right, I'm recommending a hentai RPG game!:innocent:
This is an unofficial Game Express game which uses the job system from Final Fantasy 5. Similary, you're on a quest to find 4 crystals shaped like.....never mind, you can even already guess what the airship looks like as well.
Hi-Leg fantasy is a very hard game. Grinding is a must at all times. The more crystals you uncover, the more job skills you can teach your 3 characters after mastering them. It's because the game uses the FF5 job sytem and the game is VERY challenging at all times that makes this game addicting. It has nothing to do with the fact that all the enemies are women who lose their clothes as they take damage.......yeah that's right.:whistle::whistle:

Himitsu no Hanazono

YES

your standard fare Japanese school dating text adventure.

Horror Story

NO

Clearly that was inspired by Ghostbusters. You shoot ghosts in this hard platformer and face the boss at the end of the level. Nothing new there but the game is quite challenging. Having 2 players will help you out alot. You can double jump to reach high places and get powerups and extra armor.

Hu PGA Tour Power Golf 2 - Golfer

NO

A golf game where you can use your money winnings to buy better equipment and you can talk to people about who knows what. For some reason there is also a slot machine in this golf game as well.

Human Sports Festival

NO

A sport festival featuring 3 games. Tennis, Golf and football.

Hyaku Monogatari - Hontou ni Atta Kowai Hanashi

YES

Hyaku Monogatari Kaidankai is a Japansese parlour game where people would light up 100 candles in a room and sit around them. Each person would tell a ghost/horror story and a candle would be put out afterwards, making the room darker. This would continue until all candles are put out and a supernatural entity would be summonend.
So I'm guessing this game is a collection of such ghost stories?

Hyper Dyne SideArms Special

NO

Space war between the humans and Bozon, an alien force seeks to destroy all life on Earth. Yadda yadda. It's a horizontal shoot'em up where you can also shoot to the left. Your power suit can grab a temporary powerup that makes it look cooler and shoot in every direction. And there are also more weapons you can get like 3-way and a mega cannon. This PCE-CD version has the HuCard version and also a remix version of it called "Side Arms Before Christ'"

Hyper Wars

NO

You create your own monster by mixing two gene types together (human, bird, beast, reptile) and then train it to become a better fighter, spend money to increase its stats. It's basically your regular monster-training sim and and you battle other people's monsters. You do not control it during battles at all, you let the stats do all the work for you so you are going to start out with a very weak monster. The sprites are way too small, the game didn't seem interesting.

Iga Ninden Gaiou

NO

Platformer with ninja action and story-telling between levels. Very average.

Image Fight II

NO

Vertical shoot'em up with great powerup weapons, good music and interesting stage designs made by Irem. (They made the R-Types and In the Hunt so you know what to expect).

Implode

Implode is a puzzle game. The game starts with a grid partially filled with blocks. The player makes a move by removing adjacent blocks of the same color in groups of three or more. When blocks are removed, higher blocks fall to fill their space, and when a column is cleared, the blocks on either side close to fill the gap. The object of the game is to remove all the blocks.
There are two bonus games included, Humpball and Crash. Humpball is a simple volleyball game and Crash is basically Atari's "Dodge'em".

Inoue Mami - Kono Hoshi ni Tatta Hitori no Kimi

YES

Inoue Mami is a Japanese idol. That's all I got about this strange game.

IQ Panic

YES

Quiz RPG game. Pretty much everything is a quiz, walking around on the world map doesn't give you random monster battles but random people quizing you:lol:

It Came from the Desert

FMV game with recorded sequences of live actors plus drawn game action sequences. Unfortunately, this version was marred by poor quality of the video playback of the system, and the limitations of the game console hardware that resulted in side scrolling arcade sequences that were tacky in terms of gameplay. The acting in the video sequences was of B-movie quality by intention, keeping in-line with the source material that served as an inspiration for the game.
It's still a very boring bad game.

J League Tremendous Soccer '94

NO

Another football game. I find this game looking and playing similar to Formation Soccer '95 - Della Serie A (look up under letter F).

J Thunder

NO

Unlicenced "game", I use that term lightly because there is no gameplay at all. It's just a linear hentai story without any interactivity. Just keep pressing the button to advance and you'll see the ending in 5 minutes. Bleh.:-/

Jack Nicklaus Turbo Golf / Jack Nicklaus World Tour Golf

NO

No surprise this would be here, there's practically a Jack Nicklaus videogame on every system. It plays like every other golf game; clubs, winds, terrain, yadda yadda.

Janshin Densetsu - Quest of Jongmaster

YES

Mahjong game with some RPG elements. The loser strips downonly to their underwear, so hentai prowlers, prowl elsewhere.:-O This is a cheap mahjong game. You can lose on your first round, happened alot to me. Incredibly slow-paced.

Jantei Monogatari

NO

Atlus made mahjong games?  Anyways, I can't find info about this.

Jantei Monogatari 2 - Uchuu Tantei Divan Kanketsu Hen

NO

Mahjong game, fight monsters to save the day. You hero, you! No other info available.

Jantei Monogatari 2 - Uchuu Tantei Divan Shutsudou Hen

YES

Seems to be the same as above but with text adventure elements inserted where you make choices which have an effect on the story.

Jantei Monogatari 3 - Saver Angels

YES

Third game in a mahjong series I have no idea what they're about. This one contains alot of dialogue between matches.

J.B. Harold Murder Club / J.B. Harold Satsujin Club

YES

Bill Robbins, a ruthless businessman and unfaithful husband, has been murdered. It's up to J.B. Harold to find out the murderer and the motive. The goal of the game is to visit several places to search and interrogate with the use of menu options. You cannot lose or get stuck in this game but because there are so many locations and people, it will take quite some time to advance in the game (you have to backtrack alot too). Both versions of the games are identical. You can select the languages in both of them. The default language you start out with just happens to be the region release. The game has full spoken dialogues for all conversation lines (for both languages). Mystery buffs will love this game. Plot twists aplenty!

Jim Power - In Mutant Planet

NO

A platformer which was initially released on the Amiga. This version uses too much clashing colors IMHO, it hurts my eyes. It doesn't help that the game is superhard as well, one hit and you die and it has annoying controls. The Amiga version is supposed to be better.

John Madden Duo CD Football

Generic American football game. Nothing special.

Juuouki

NO

"WISE Fwom Your Gwave!" Altered Beast was released on PCE as HuCard and as CD. There really isn't any difference between the two. Just an intro story was added to the CD version. Graphics and music are the same. Can somebody tell me why this game is so popular? I never even liked it on the Genesis years ago. The gameplay was/is/will be so stale.

Kabuki Itouryodan

NO

A 2D fighting game featuring characters from Tengai Makyo Fuun Kabuki Den (look further below for more info about that game). It's a standard 2D Street Fighter clone.

Kagamai No Kuni No Legend

YES

Just like Faerie Dust Story (look under F), another J-pop idol gets transported to another world. This one is text based and you interact with creatures and people from that world, I guess in an attempt to get the heck outta there?I swear that guy in the 3rd pic is from Hanna-Barbera's Herculoids! What a freaky world.

Kaizou Choujin Shubibinman 3 - Makai no Princess

NO

A great platformer game which also supports 2 players. You hack and slash through enemies and bosses in colorful stages on foot and several types of vehicles. I really liked this one, challenging yet not frustrating. What the story itself is about I don't know but that didn't stop me from having a good time.

Kakutou Haou Densetsu Algunos

NO

A regular 2D fighter. The sprites could've been bigger but it's still an allright game. A 6-button pad is recommended.

Kawa no Nushizuri - Shizenha

YES

An RPG game about fishing!??  Now I've seen everything.

Kaze Kiri - Ninja Action  >

NO

If you're looking for a fast-paced adrenaline-filled action on the PCE-CD, look no further!  Kaze Kiri - Ninja Action has it all! Great animation, great enemy AI, great ninja music, great variations of attacks. Backflips, forward flips, sliding, dive kick. kunai, sword, throws and cloaking. All that is possible on this 2-button controller! The kunai and cloak cost health but you constantly generate it back. Get this now!
THIS. GAME. IS. PERFECT. !.

Kaze no Densetsu Xanadu

YES

The Legend of Xanadu is a classic amongst Falcom's massive game library. It plays like Ys (walk into enemies) but it also has 2D platform boss sections. You do not gain levels here, instead you get stronger with proficiency. By hitting and getting hit, your weapons and armor become better. And resting to restore your HP increases you total HP based on how much you lost. In the boss segments you fight a small number of enemies in a platformer fashion before reaching the boss. It is possible to get a NPC helper who will attack with you. A neat feature of realism in this game is that it's realtime when outside. The sun rises and sets as you go about doing your business. The villagers react to this as well, they take lunch breaks and go to sleep when it's night (which means you can't use shops or inns).

Kaze no Densetsu Xanadu II  >

YES

You are Arios, accompanied by Daimos, you search for your missing friend whose ship was attacked by Dragon Riders. The sequel ups the ante in the graphics and music department. The sideways boss action scenes are downright beautifully drawn, it reminded me of the Tales games. And on the map screens, you do get to swing your sword this time. You'll explore some large areas, solve puzzles, talk to people, etc RPG etc. A pretty game.

Kaze no Densetsu Xanadu Taikenban

YES

Demo disc of the first game.

Kiaidan 00

NO

Clearly inspired by giant robot anime like Mazinger Z, this shoot'em up has you flying your robot Kaidan against waves of enemies. You have 4 weapons which you can select at any time. All stages feature a midboss halfway the stage before facing the level boss at the end.The game is pretty challenging, you can die easily if you're reckless but patient gamers will prevail with skill.

The Kick Boxing

NO

Kickboxing game where you can train your fighter to increase his stats.

YES

Now Gulliver swears revenge and embarks, together with Misty and Edison, on a grand journey that will take him to several cities and countries all over the world, from Rome to Himalaya. The gameplay is similar to the classic first person RPG battles. The game inspired an anime series to be made from it.
Lady Phantom

NO

Hex-grid strategy game in the vein like Power Dolls, where girls control giant mecha to battle against their enemies accompanied with cutscenes between missions.

Langrisser - Hikari no Matsue

YES

PCE-CD version of the first Langrisser game (known as Warsong on the Genesis).
A turnbased grid strategy game where you control generals and their troops into battle. Types of troops and terrain play a major role into deciding who fights most efficiently in battles. Langrisser fans already have all the information they need.

Laplace no Ma

YES

A first person dungeon crawler RPG, where instead of a dungeon you will be venturing deep inside a haunted house where people have gone missing or getting killed. Your name your characters at the start and select classes for them: Detective, medium, journalist, scientist. Each has their own specialty. You can leave the house anytime to go back to town to heal up and restock and sell monster photos the journalist took for cash. The SNES version was fan-translated.

Last Alert

Japanese release title: Red Alert (see further below under letter R)
A no-nonsense action overhead shooter, Last Alert will surely please triggerhappy gamers. Guy Kazama must stop a cabal from unleashing their top secret weaponry. Go through 23 long missions blasting away everything that moves with a variety of weapons and powerups. Being able to strafe is a big plus, you can also use secondary powerups like grenades, flamethrowers, rotating spheres and such. As you progress, your rank goes up unlocking better weapons. The English voice acting in the cutscenes is notorious on the internet by now but don't let that steer you away. You want a fun one-man-army game? You got it.

Last Armageddon

YES

After mankind was wiped out, demons have now taken over the earth naming it Makai. Now dominion of the wasteland planet is being fought between the demons and bio-organic robots. You play as the demons. This RPG looks and plays very boring IMO.

L-Dis

NO

A colorful cute'em up that will probably make you giggle. Give it a try, it's fun.

Legion

NO

Was this thing playtested!!??   Something is wrong with the people who designed this game!  It's literally IMPOSSIBLY hard! Stay the hell away! There's nothing good about it!

Lemmings

NO

It's the adorable dimwitted Lemmings! Guide the gerbils through hazardous areas towards the exits using whatever actions are assigned to you. There is a small 2-player mode too. Using a mouse is recommended.

Linda3

YES

Linda Cube is about a girl named Linda and her crew attempt to save the animals of the world by gathering them into a latter day Noah's Ark. You play as Ken and you wander out into the wilderness to capture animals of both genders. The unique thing about the RPG battles is that you can get attacked from all Cardinal directions so caution is always adviced. You can also kill the animals for items or sell them for money.

Linda3 Sample Disc

YES

Demo CD of Linda Cube.

The Local Girls of Hawaii

*sigh* The third of crappy pic collection of women in bikini and some not even bothering to wear anything.

Lodoss Tousenki - Record of Lodoss War

YES

Record of Lodoss War is a Japanese counterpart of the D&D books. The game is based on the manga/anime where you play as Parn on a quest to find out what happened to his father and to restore his family honor. During his journey he will meet allies who will join him. The battle system has you controlling the movement locations and attacks of your characters.

Lodoss Tousenki - Record of Lodoss War Taikenban

YES

Demo CD of Lodoss Tousenki - Record of Lodoss War.

Lodoss Tousenki II - Record of Lodoss War I

YES

A direct sequel of the first game. You control a brand new band of adventures and you will encounter the main cast of the first game (albeit a bit older). I don't know what the story is about but the game plays the same with minor differences; town interaction has a bit more depth.

Loom

YES

A classic SCUMM LucasArts game. The world is populated by guilds, each with their own craftsmanship. The Glassmakers, the Blacksmiths, the Shepherds and the Weavers. The weavers have the abilty to weave reality itself with their distaffs and are shunned by the other guilds. You are Bobbin Threadbare, an ostracized youth of the Weaver guild with a mysterious past. After witnessing the disappearance of your entire guild, you journey into the world and encounter the other guilds as you learn more skills using your distaff. Using your distaff, you play tones to alter reality. Playing those tones backwards, will do the exact opposite. This is the key to solve many puzzling situations in the game.

Lord of Wars

YES

Strategy war game. There is an extreme lack of color, probably done on purpose to let the game look old as it takes place during WWI (I guess). The game itself is plain, nothing special about it.

Lords of the Rising Sun

Japanese release title: Rising Sun.
Japan 12th century. After your father has been murdered, you set out on a quest to become Shogun to restore the honor of your family. Lords of the Rising Sun is a mix of map-based strategy and arcade-style mini games. You prepare troops, plot assassinations, conquer cities, widen your empire. Battles are different depending on the situation. When armies clash on the map, you will get a side battle where you decide what position to place your soldiers (offensive, defensive, retreat). Assaulting cities has has you controlling one warrior (he represents your army) walking inside the city fighting his way through the enemy to find their headquarters before sundown (very hard, the cities are huge). Castle Defense has you shooting arrows at enemies who are climbing your castle walls. All in all, a good yet very complex game with alot of variation.

Lords of Thunder

Japanese release title: Winds of Thunder.
The world of Mistral has to defend itself against the re-awakened evil god Zaggart and his minions. A god-knight known as Landis sets off to defeat Zaggart's army in 7 different stages. You start each stage by selecting an elemental armor, each has its own attack pattern and bombs. Exploring the stages will give you a hint which armor works best with what stage. The rock soundtrack is awesome and the sprites are very well detailed with plenty of color.

Mad Stalker - Full Metal Force

NO

An overlooked 2D robot brawler, Mad Stalker is pretty good. Fast-paced action using 3 different robot to beat the crap out of an army of everything-that-gets-in-your-way. Each robot has its own fighting stle and weapons, which you can use anytime. If you want to get far, you have to play aggressively and fast, the enemy won't give you much breathing room as you progress in Story mode. In Versus mode it's a 1-on-1 fighting game, enemy robots can be used here as well.

Mad Stalker - Full Metal Force Sample Disc

NO

Demo containing the first 2 stages and a limited vs mode with Hound Dog selectable only, the cool intro movie isn't there.

Madou Monogatari I - Honou no Sotsuenji

YES

Gameplay is traditional RPG with some unique twists: there are no numeric stats; Everything is represented by character facial expressions and sprites. Another is the complete lack of physical attacks. Everything utilizes a magical element: Fire, Ice Storm, Thunder, and Bayoen. Some enemies are weaker against one particular magic attack than another. The characters in this game would be later used in the Puyo Puyo series.

Magical Dinosaur Tour / Magical Saurus Tour

YES

Edutainment about dinosaurs. Human size comparison, info text, evolution stuff, etc etc. Strictly an educational disc, there is nothing about gaming in it.

Magical Fantasy Adventure - Popful Mail

NO

A female elf bounty hunter Popful Mail (yes that is actually her name) keeps failing to capture the criminal known as Nuts Cracker. In her latest foiled attempt she decides to go after another bounty, the rogue magician Muttonhead (how do they come up with these names?). The gameplay is an action platformer. You buy better weapons and armor with the money dropped by enemies. You start out with a sword which you automatically use by running into enemies like Ys. Later you can buy ranged weapons as well. You will encounter 2 other playable characters later on of which you can switch in between at any time. Colorful, fun, big, I liked this game. The later SegaCD version has bigger sprites.

Magicoal

YES

Overhead adventure game where you are two characters travel screens fighting monsters, like the Seiken Densetsu games. You can switch control between characters anytime. What exactly the game is about, I don't know. I could't find any info about it. I do like the detail that went in the environment. Stepping on plants crushes them.

Mahjong Clinic Special

YES

An ecchi mahjong game that takes place in a hospital. Depending on what rooms you go to each day, you will encounter different staff members / patients. This ensures replay value if you...., you guessed it, want to see them strip if you defeat them at mahjong. But like I said, this is an ecchi mahjong game. You won't see any nudity, just borderline of ityet it kept me playing all the way to the end of the game getting 72% of all the pics. Shut up. There's always something in the way or they stop only to their underwear. What a perverted doctor you play, and he deserves all our envy.

Mahjong Lemon Ange

NO

Play Mahjong against 3 schoolgirls. Some small talk story in between matches, that's all.

Mahjong on the Beach

YES

You walk around a city map near the beach. You can only walk a certain distance before being blocked by a girl who you must defeat in Mahjong before you can continue. You are rewarded with a pic of the girl posing. No nakedness here people.

Mahjong Sword - Princess Quest Gaiden

YES

Oh boy, here I go recommending an ecchi game.
Mahjong Sword is the most indepth Mahjong game I have played. It has RPG elements, mini-games and conditions. You're some swordswoman who battles other (I guess) evil magicians/robots/fighters/queen/whatever. You can select any of which are available at the time on the world map. Your winnings can be used to buy items in the town shop which can help you during matches. Everybody has health that decreases as they lose. So to completely defeat (or get defeated) continuous matches of Mahjong must be played per character. As your health gets lower, you are presented an animated scene where the loser is attacked and pieces of her clothes get shredded. (Even the item shop owner can be battled in the same fashion to get special rare items! ) You won't see nudity but very ecchi pics though. There is some bonus game of some sort that involves picking the correct mahjong tiles to run faster but I never figured out what its formula is. Sometimes it's not just about winning, some characters need to be defeated multiple times or by a specific Mahjong meld.

Mahou no Shoujo Silky Lip

YES

Prototype of an unreleased game. There's like only 3 minutes of gameplay available before you get stuck. Go play the SegaCD version instead. It's a magical girl themed game.

Mamono Hunter Youko - Makai Kara no Tenkousei

YES

All I know is that there's an anime about this, including in English (Devil Hunter Yoko) and that she and two of her classmates are transported to another world. It's a text adventure.

Mamono Hunter Youko - Tooki Yobigoe

YES

The sequel. That is all.

The Manhole

NO

"A fantasy exploration for children of all ages" The Manhole is an adventure game intended for children in which the player opens a manhole and reveals a gigantic beanstalk that can be climbed either up or down, leading to fantastic worlds in either case. There is no end; the object is simply to explore and have fun.

Martial Champion

NO

An inferior Street Fighter 2 clone. Nothing special, just like its original arcade version. You really need a 6-button controller or else you can't do alot of moves.

Mashou Denki La Valeur

YES

Wow. What a crappy RPG game. It didn't hold my interest very long.

Master of Monsters

YES

The master of the wizards has died, and the remaining rulers duke it out to see who will inherit the master's lands by duking it out with summoned monsters! Talk about overkill. It's a turn-based strategy game where the more towers you conquer, the more monsters you can summon to defeat the other summoners. The campaigns can be very long after seeing how huge some stage are. The coloring of the world map could've been better, as it is quite ugly IMO.

Mateki Densetsu Astralius

YES

Wow x2. Another super-crappy RPG game. EXTREMELY high encounter rate, black background for battles, just plain bad.

Megami Paradise

YES

Based on tha OVA of the same name. You start in the paradise where only women live (shrine maidens, godesses, whatever). You begin as an original character (since she's not in the OVA at all) and...well I don't know what the story is about but this is an RPG game that catches my interest nonetheless and I enjoyed it. Changing equipment is done in a dress-up fashion screen, even more interesting is that your sprite will actually display the clothes you chose so your characters won't look the same throughout the entire game. You will recruit girls from the OVA as your party members as you leave the paradise for the real world.

Metal Angel

YES

Training simulation where you train 5 girls by arranging their daily shedules (this is the majority of the game) and watch their stats develop. When it's all done sit back and watch them wear their cybernetic suits and fight in a sci-fi tournament where the AI does everything based on the stats. Only applies to gamers who like stat-based training simulations, like the Sotsugyou series.

Metal Angel II

YES

Sequel offering the same thing, only 3 girls this time to train.

Metamor Jupiter

NO

Horizontal shmup where your spacecraft can turn around and fire behind him with the push of a button. No more enemies sneaking up behind you where you can't attack them anymore! You have 3 switchable weapons already available for you, they can be upgraded. You can also get option bits (like in Gradius) but only a maximum of two. Holding down the fire button charges them up to do a special attack, depending on the currently selected weapon. Here's what I REALLY liked about those bits: they can be controlled by player 2 and player 3!! Human-controlled assists in a shmup, that's genius! (The enemy will never aim at them because they're bits, not the main player).

Meteor Blaster DX

Homebrew title. It's an Asteroids clone but with more depth. You can select 4 ships, each with their strenghts and weaknesses and there are bosses. Also included are the games Loop and Implode Caravan Version.

Might and Magic

YES

You are Amuru, paladin of justice and light. Your companions are the evil archeress Ria, wily thief Uruto Warren, peaceful cleric Do Ga, high wizard Asura Frost, and the mighty Lance. The epic tale of how six unrelated, oppositely-aligned characters came together is a tale lost to time. There is no character creation system in this version, you start out with these characters right away, they're all human. It's an open sandbox game with many quests besides the main storyline. I didn't get far due to the language barrier so I can't say much. Maybe I didn't equip my characters right or I wandered in the wrong places but the game seemed kinda hard to me.

Might and Magic III - Isles of Terra

YES

The object of M&M III is to locate  Sheltem the rogue Guardian and stop his ways of destruction in his domain Terra. The isles of Terra is a very huge world for you to explore. In first person mode, you view a vast area in front of you as you can already see enemies from far away. Solve puzzles and riddles to advance in towns, dungeons, buildings and caves. Of all the platform versions of this game, this one has the best graphics and music.

Mine Sweeper

NO

You're not here to make this land safe, you're here because YOU'RE BORED!Don't you ever forget that.
The wellknown desktop game makes its way on a console. It has the regular play and edit mode we're all familiar with. The Voyage is just a collection of different-sized minesweeper levels per country decorated to look like the sea. Cook's Quest is a definite reason to play this. You're a chef who goes underground looking for egg-shaped gems in a large multi-screen cave. To progress, you have to carefully avoid the weak spots (instead of mines, the cave roof falls on you) and make your way across several rooms to find the gems. The timer is replaced by a boulder slowly rolling towards you. It's pretty creative and worth a shot for minesweeper fans. Here's a shocker: the first square CAN be a mine!:-O

Mirai Shonen Conan

NO

A platformer with alot of cutscenes. It's based on the post-apocalyptic anime of the same name. (in English "Conan, The Boy in Future".

Mitsubachi Gakuen

YES

No comment as I have NO idea what this is.

Monster Lair

Japanese release title: Wonderboy III - Monster Lair.
NOT to be confused with WonderBoy III on the master system. (Monster Lair, Monster Land, Monster World; yes it's very confusing that these are all different Wonderboy games)
This is ascrolling horizontal shoot'em up. Not really one of Wonderboy's finest games even if it supports simultaneous 2 players.

Monster Maker - Yami no Ryuukishi

YES

RPG where the monsters you defeat can be captured to make them fight alongside you as allies, just like today's Nippon Ichi RPG games.

Moonlight Lady

YES

Action RPG with a "Sailor Moon"-esque girls who magically transform wearing armor and fight bad guys and stuff.

Motoroader MC

NO

Overhead racing game where the cars can attack each other with missiles and bombs. Some tracks are quite creative. There is also a football mode where two cars must try to bump the ball into their goal.

Motteke Tamago

NO

This was released as a pack-in game with the Super PC Engine Fan Deluxe magazine. You're a duck competing against three other ducks to get the most hachlets into their homes. The eggs on the screen need to be collected and they will follow you around until they hatch, that is when they can enter the player's home. The catch is, other players can steal them from you. Add powerups and the occasional freaky mutant duck who blocks paths in the mix and you got yourself one chaotic competitive party game! (supports 4 players). An English translated version (by Dave Shadoff) is also included in this torrent, the only dialogue really is just the playing instructions.

Mugen Senshi Valis - Legend of a Fantasm Soldier

NO

The Valis games tell the story of Yuko Asou, a schoolgirl in late 1980s Japan who is fated to protect three different realms: Earth, the land of spirits, and the dream world Vecanti, by wielding a mystical sword known as Valis. They're all 2D platformers. The PCE-CD version is a remake of the Genesis version (the original game came out on the MSX and PC-88). Rogles, a warlord from Vecanti stirs up trouble and Yuko is called by Valis to save everybody in Vecanti. Lotsa anime scenes between the levels, this applies to all the Valis games.

Mystic Formula

NO

Overhead fantasy action game where you progress killing everything in your path before facing the boss. There are 4 characters to select from, each with their own attacks. Supports 2 players. There is a powerup that temporarily adds one of the unchosen characters as an AI-controlled ally.

Nekketsu Koukou Dodgeballbu Soccer Hen

NO

Kunio-Kun and gang compete in football matches against the other schools. The animations are the same as River City Ransom, and you can hit each other to steal the ball. My kind of sport.:-)

Nekketsu Legend Baseballer

YES

RPG about intergalactic baseball against aliens and avenging your sensei and stuff like that.

Nemurenumori no Chiisana Ohanashi

YES

An interactive children's book where you manipulate events with a cursor as the story progresses.

Neo Nectaris

NO

Sequel of the war strategy game known as Military Madness in the US. Smart strategy is the MAJOR key to victory. The type and number of units and the terrain decide the odds of victory and defeat during battles. You win campaigns by destroying all enemy units or invade their headquarters (HQs and factories can only be occupied by infantry). As a bonus, the original HuCard game Nectaris is also included on this CD.

Nexzr

NO

Nexzr incorporates pure, hardcore to the core gameplay packed with great audio-visuals. You have option-weapons that typically enhance your standard main firepower: homing missiles, homing satellite ships, lasers, are all there. The opening movie shows your beloved getting killed by a red mecha so you search for it, vengeance style! The game is awesome, challenging, colorful, filled with constant explosions and firepower. Defenitely for shmup fans.

Nishimura Kyoutarou Mystery - Hokutosei no Onna

YES

Kyotaro Nishimura is a Japanese writer of mystery stories. Nishimura is best known for his "train series" mysteries. So I guess this game is one of them, seeing a train in the title screen. I got stuck like 10 min after I started playing due to the language barrier and going in a loop so not much information or good pics for this one.

Nobunaga no Yabou - Bushou Fuuunroku

YES

Nobunaga no Yabou (Nobunaga's Ambition) is a series of turn-based strategy video games by Koei released on many systems. It takes place during the Sengoku period of feudal Japan. As the title suggests, the player is tasked with achieving the ultimate goal of warlord Oda Nobunaga; the conquest and unification of Japan. the player must allocate resources to raise a capable military force, provide a productive economy to support both military and civilian expansion and support the peasants in order to sustain their respect and loyalty. Gameplay is taken in turns, with each turn in the map view corresponding to a season and each turn during battle corresponding to a day. The player may achieve victory through numerous means, among which are forcing the enemy to retreat, destroying the enemy command unit, or prolonging battle until the opposing force has exhausted its supplies.

Nobunaga no Yabou Zenkokuban

YES

See above.

No.Ri.Ko

YES

Noriko is the darling of the J Pop scene and you can follow her performances true otaku style in this fan based game. Collectable due to being released at the same time as the CD Rom unit.

YES

Fighting simulation where you build your own robot; select skeleton, armor, weapons, etc and define other parameters and start fighting. You have limited control during the fights. As you win, you can buy upgrades and get better.

Pastel Lime

YES

Text adventure game about a small girl with a magical faerie, who can make her grow into a busty teenager. The artwork seems to accentuate the nipples under the clothes sometimes for some reason and this isn't even a hentai game. Oh, you wanna know what the game is about?  How should I know, I can't read Japanese.:-P

PCEngine Fan Special CD-Rom Volume I

YES

*cracks knuckles*

Police Connection

YES

Board game where you compete against 3 other detectives in gathering clues and interrogations to solve murders. Supports up to 4 players.

Pomping World

NO

US release title: Buster Bros.
A classic multi-platform game, better known as Pang amongst arcade gamers. 1 or 2 players shoot bouncing balls of all sizes and each popped ball splits up in more balls until they're all small enough to be popped away. Each location has a unique background that shows the area’s most famous landmarks. The stages contain a different layout of blocks, some that disappear after being shot, others that do not, and still others that are hidden and can reveal bonuses. Various powerups help the player survive longer.

Pop'n Magic

NO

Very colorful Bubble Bobble clone with cutscenes between levels. You trap monsters in a colored bubble and hit them with the same color to defeat them. Pick wrong color and things might go bad for you.

Populous -  The Promised Lands

NO

The Bullfrog-developed Populous is a classic God sim which is considered to have spawn the whole genre. The player adopts the role of a deity and assumes the responsibility to shepherd people by direction, manipulation, and divine intervention. You have the ability to shape the landscape and grow their civilization with the overall aim of having it conquer an enemy force, which is led by an opposing deity. In this PCE version, you can change the templates of the game, like making the area look like a desktop (with pencils and cigarette butts instead of buildings) and Bombermen instead of people. As the game progresses, the player rules over a variety of different civilizations, including Prehistoric, Ancient, and Medieval.

Prince of Persia

NO

We all know the story by now; sultan goes away to war, evil vizier Jaffar forces princess to marry him within 1 hour so he can become ruler, he locks up the Prince-to-be because the princess has the hots for him instead of Jaffar. Prince breaks out and that's where you come in.
You have literraly 1 hour to beat the game by fighting, running, jumping and puzzle-solving to reach the princess. This game is available on many older systems and computers. My favorite is the SNES version, it has more levels and unique bosses not available on the other ports (and it's freaking hard).

Princess Maker 1

YES

Princess Maker is a series of Japanese life simulation bishoujo games by the computer game and anime production company Gainax. You are in charge of a war orphan after defeating an evil demon. You can let her out into town to talk to people, buy clothes and other stuff for her. Basically, it's a raising simulation game; raise her well with good matters, fashion sense, let her become popular enough through tournaments and beauty contests and so on. Depending on how she was raised, you will get one of the 74 endings. From soldier or prostitute (!) to archbishop or prime minister. The game comes with a mini-audio drama CD (also included in this torrent).

Princess Maker 2

YES

You play a swordsman who adopts a 10-year old girl and raises her to the age of 18. you decide the girl's schedule, filling it with activities such as education, part-time work, adventure and free time. During adventures, you control her directly using in an RPG mode. As with the other games in the series the girl's eventual fate is decided when she reaches 18 years of age, based on her experience and statistics.

Princess Minerva

YES

GIRLS! GIRLS! GIRLS!
No, I'm not advertising a stripper club.:w00t: Princess Minerva is an all-girl RPG where you control 3 teams of 3 girls. Battles take place with you in the center but other than that it's the same RPG fight. But there is an extra option to let all 3 girls use their turn to attack a single enemy at the same time for extra high damage but it also has a high miss ratio. Then there's the usual walk around the world map, go to villages, etc. And there's alot of fanservice moments.:-)

Anime/manga fans know about Ranma by now. Cursed water, boy turn into girl, dad into panda, etc etc. This game plays like a 2D action game, you run to the right fighting enemies and face a boss at the end. There are alot of voiced animated cutscenes between levels. The game follows the manga from the beginning up to Ranma's second battle with Ryoga.

Ranma ? - Datou, Ganso Musabetsu Kakutou-Ryuu!

Red Alert

NO

US release title: Last Alert.
You want a fun one-man-army game? You got it.

Renny Blaster

NO

A 2D action platformer where you play as one of two guys, a fighter or a magician. No idea what the story is about, you fight humans, monsters, biological experiments and stuff. The fighter has a limited degree of magic/mystic powers in some of his moves while the magician's special attacks are mostly distance-based, shooting arrows and summoning spirits.

Riot Zone

NO

Japanese release title: Crest of Wolf.
This is Hudson Soft's attempt at a Final Fight clone. Some might remember this game for its bad sound effects. The game gets repetitive quick enough fighting the same guys over and over. It's too easy. The bosses are the only real challenge.

Rising Sun

YES

US release title: Lords of the Rising Sun.

Road Spirits

NO

BOOOORING! You just race by yourself, that's it. No real competition, different backgrounds (like it matters) and a pic of a girl for each stage you finish. There is an option to change cars but it's never selectable, not even after finishing the game. Like I'm ever gonna play this BORING game again!

R-Type Complete CD

NO

At the beginning of the 22nd century, the people of Earth had developed a peaceful and prosperous civilization. Suddenly THEY appeared. Arriving through an inter-dimensional pulse, they invaded all forms of life, minerals and electronic devices. Existing as a parasite, They multiplied rapidly. They have ravaged nearby planets and have chosen Earth as their next target for colonisation. This evil is called simply the "BYDO". R-Type's prime feature is the Force Pod, an indestructible orb that can be attached to the front or back of your ship for better offense/defense, it can be detached for clever strategic uses as well to kill hard to reach enemies. R-Type Complete CD is basically a CD remake of the HuCard R-Type with upgraded graphics/music and has alot of narrated cutscenes added.

Ruin Kami no Isan

YES

Action RPG game where you are assisted by AI companions, just like the Seiken Densetsu games. That's all I got.

Ryuuko no Ken

NO

Known as Art of Fighting in the west, it's a 2D fighter with scaling effect and the ability to inflict visual physical damage to your opponent. Even if this version was only released in Japan, you can still select English and Spanish language in the option menu.
There is an energy bar below your health which indicates how much spirit you have left to perform special moves. This was done to not make the game cheap (i.e. constant fireballs). In story mode, you can only play as Ryo and Robert on a quest to save Ryo's little sister Yuri, little do they know who the real kidnapper is....

Ryuuko no Ken - Sample Disc

NO

Sample disc.

Sangokushi Eiketsu - Tenka ni Nozomu

YES

A ancient feudal Japan strategy game I found very complex, not really sure how to play it.

Sangokushi III

YES

See above!  I can't play these types of games!:-(

Seirei Senshi Spriggan

NO

Pretty good shoot'em up with a great powerup system. You can collect 3 orbs of different colors. Depending on the choice of colors, your attack will be enhanced or a combination of the different firepower. You can sacrifice an orb as well as a megabomb. Occasionally some weak AI allies will appear to assist you firing weak bullets but they die right away. The real kicker is that once player 2 presses his controls, he can take over and control this ally! It will die with 1 hit and fires a single weak stream of bullets but a human can keep it alive a lot longer than the dumb AI and it is quite useful.

Seiryuu Densetsu Monbit

YES

A bad and boring RPG.

Seisenshi Denshou - Jantaku no Kish

NO

Mahjong game where a trio of adventures fight for some cause. Who cares, everybody will play this game for the ability to slash women's clothes off after they lose, showing nipple-less boobs!

Seiya Monogatari - Anearth Fantasy Stories

YES

One of the things that makes this game interesting is the ability to play through the game as one of four characters. You can play as a thief, a wizard, a swordsman, or a monk. You are abandoned at the church as a baby and depending who you let pick you up, you will end up a different background story and class for the rest of the game ( = high replay value!).
The battles happen during fixed moments during the game and not random like other RPGs. Battle is shown from the side and is turn based. I sure wish this was fan-translated, it looks pretty good. The debug CD is also included in this torrent. Here's a pretty good obscure walkthrough of this game

Seiya Monogatari - Anearth Fantasy Stories Taikenban

YES

Demo CD where besides playing the prologue chapter, you can view some artwork, character bios and play music.

Sengoku Kantou Sankokushi

YES

We've been through this before. Ancient feudal Japan, strategy/political game. 'nuff said.

Sexy Idol Mahjong

NO

Travel the map, play mahjong against women, they posefully clothed if you win. That's it.

Sexy Idol Mahjong - Fashion Monogatari

NO

Look above, same thing. Their poses are more provocative this time.

Sexy Idol Mahjong - Yakyuuken no Uta

NO

Mahjong game where you play against 3 other players. There is also a rock/paper/scissors game which shows pics of women posing. Whatever rocks your boat I guess.

Shadow of the Beast

NO

Ugh. This game was popular when it came out on the Amiga because it's graphics and animation was something new. Play this today and you'll go "wth is this crap!?" It's one huge world and you have NO IDEA what to do, where to go first, etc. It's all trial and error and the game is friggin' hard. I suggest, no I RECOMMEND you use a faq to save yourself time and frustration.
You have been kidnapped and transformed into a monster and when you remember who are, revenge etc etc etc. This game is really weird. Area and monster designs are just bizarre.

Shanghai II

NO

Wellknown puzzle game. Remove matching symbols by taking tiles which are on top only until you clear the table or get stuck.

Shanghai III - Dragon's Eye

NO

Same game but with more tile variations and sets.

Shapeshifter / Shapeshifter - Makai Eiyuu Den

YES

A trio of evil deities sweep their monsters across the land. A shapeshifter named Lycos needs to save 5 sages who will unlock powers within him that will allow him to transform into different beasts: panther, shark, golem and dragon. (Reminded me of Shadowcaster on the PC). You will need each beast's abilities to advance further in the game and liberate towns. You can buy weapons and armor and heal from them. The controls may be awkward in some areas with difficult platform jumping but it's still a solid game. Being able to control diverse creatures makes it all the worth.

Sherlock Holmes Consulting Detective / Sherlock Holmes no Tantei Kouza

YES

FMV game where you can investigate 3 cases as Sherlock Holmes & Watson. Like Carmen Sandiego, you pick locations and interview people for clues. It is all fully done in FMV scenes and spoken dialogue, the quality is very grainy but I guess that's due to hardware limitations (the original PC version has better movie quality). The cases are Mummy's Curse (an archeologist dies), Mystified Murderess (an accuses killer who can't remember killing anybody) and Tin Soldier (a dying man pointing at a figurine of Napoleon). Familiar characters from the Holmes books feature Porky Shinwell, the ex-con barman and the Baker Street Irregulars, a group of street kids who often give valuable clues for being in places others can't get to. After you think you have found enough evidence and know who the guilty party is, take it to court and answer some questions and the judge decides if you were correct or not. At the end your score will be compared to Sherlock Holmes' to see if you were better than him. The Japanese version has Japanese text and dubbed movies, which I find hilarious seeing British actors talk with Japanese voices.

Sherlock Holmes Consulting Detective Volume II / Sherlock Holmes no Tantei Kouza II

YES

Sequel which has 3 new cases: The Case of the 2 Lions (why were two caged lions murdered?), The Case of the Pilfered Painting (find the stolen paintings) and The Case of the Murdered Munitions magnate (solve the murder of a weapons tycoon).

Shiawase Usagi - Nureta Bishoujo Ichi Hajimete na no ni

YES

Hentai story!

Shiawase Usagi II - Toraware Usagi Sailor Z

YES

Another hentai story! This one features a hentai parody of Sailor Moon.

Shin Megami Tensei

YES

A direct SNES port, they only added voice in dream sequences and an analyze menu option to look at info of monsters you have beaten. They could've upgraded so much more.
SMT is about demons pouring into modern-day Japan and you fighting them. It's all done in first-person, you can negotiate with monsters for different results: they attack you or give items or they can join you. You can fuse monsters to make more powerful ones. Your choices will lead to 3 possible endings: Law, Neutral or Chaos. The SNES version is the only English version available (fan-translated). This cult classic has it all, mad scientists, occult sects, political & religious themes, etc. Try it out!

Shin Onryou Senki

YES

Some text adventure game with ghouls I guess. I dunno.

Shin Sangokushi - Tenka ha Ware ni

YES

.......another SanGokuShi game. How many of these things did they have to make!??

Shinsetsu Shiawase Usagi

YES

Interactive hentai story for THOSE WHO TOUCH THEMSELVES WHEN THEY'RE ALONE!:-P

Shinsetsu Shiawase Usagi F - Yuujiyou Yorimo Aiyoku

YES

Yup, another fanmade hentai interactive story with multiple endings, featuring obvious look-alikes of the Evangelion girls.

Shinsetsu Shiawase Usagi II

YES

The sequel, with more interactivity thrown in. Your goal is to finish the game with maximum ecstasy shown in the lower bar.:-O

Shougi Database Kiyuu

YES

A Japanese board game called Shogi (a.k.a. Japanese chess). I have no idea how to play it. Google or wiki it like everybody else, why dontcha!?:-D

Sim Earth - The Living Planet

YES

A God sim where you can choose in what era of the world you wish to play. From 4.5Billion years ago till today. You can control the weather, evolution, growth, biosphere, you name it. Everything you do has a domino effect on other factors. This is a very in-depth complex sim game.

Slime World

NO

Slime World plays kinda like Metroid, you explore giant mazes and avoid getting killed. The came is made up 6 extremely large levels, each with a different goal.
1.easy: training course, 2. logic: puzzle level with limited supplies, 3. exploration, 4. suspense: find the exit as quick as possible before the timer runs out, 5. action: hard mode in a very dangerous area and 6. Arcade: very hard mode where you have only 1 life.
You are Todd, a space marine with a water gun and a computer map. You travel through the tunnels of Slime World, while avoiding the slime dripping from the ceiling, the slime alien things, the pools of slime, the alligator like things hiding in the floors, and other hazards. Shooting water at the enemies blows them up, but be careful as the explosion of the slime can harm/kill you. You get dirtier as slime touches you; if too much covers you, you die. To remove the slime, take a bath in one of the small pools of water found in some areas. It was also released on the Genesis and Atari Lynx (reputed to be the best version).

Slot Gambler

NO

Gambling....who cares! Boring!

Snatcher CD-ROMantic

YES

This interactive cyberpunk novel is AWESOME!8-)
Set in the future after "The Catastrophe", the game takes place in Neo Kobe City. People are secretly being kidnapped and replaced by terminator-like cyborgs. A special agency called J.U.N.K.E.R. is on the task to locate and destroy them. You are Gillian Seed, an amnesiac trying to find out about his past life and he has just joined JUNKER. You interact using options like Look, Investigate, Talk, Ask and Move. The game has alot of text but also many spoken dialogues during key sequences. There are a few simple shooting sequences done in a 3x3 grid.
Snatcher is a brilliant underrated masterpiece for its great story, atmosphere and characters. Don't let the Japanese language scare you off, the official English SegaCD version was pretty well done with some minor alterations.

Snatcher - Pilot Disk

YES

Pilot disc that will let you play the game until after you get out of the factory. There are character bios, music player and a preview mode.

Sol Bianca

YES

Some space age RPG game about 5 girls with hi-tech equipment. I have no idea what it's about and don't care. It's not a very interesting game. Apparently it's based on an OVA.

Sol Moonarge

YES

Sol Moonarge is the story of a boy with a really long nose, who sets out to find his dad. The gameplay and graphics are reminiscent of RPG Maker, very simplified. Cutscenes are very well drawn though.

Solid Force

YES

A VERY HARD turn-based strategy game. You control 4 elite soldiers who are accompanied by 2 or 3 mobile robots with guns. This isn't one of those "kill everything" strategy games. You have very specific goals in each missions to accomplish, which often makes the whole thing harder (turn machine A & B off before you can do this, then go there, etc). You are always outgunned and outnumbered, you need superb strategy skills to survive this onslaught. I still can't believe I even made it to mission 3.

Sorcerian

YES

Oh boy, now I gotta stay objective for a game I absolutely don't like but yet has a huge fanbase for all system versions (DOS, MSX, PC88). You create your characters and go on quests. You control your entire party at the same time and they will attack simultaneously as well. The dungeons are big and maze-like. Complete quests, return to twon, grow stronger, go on more quests.
I really don't like this game's ridiculously tiny sprites!

Sotsugyou - Graduation

YES

You're a private tutor who teaches 5 girls. You select their courses and activities and see their stats rise and drop. Your goal of course is to make sure they all graduate. It's another one of them raising sims.

Sotsugyou II - Neo Generation

YES

Same game, different girls, better interface. That is all.

Sotsugyou Shashin - Miki

YES

High school text novel game.

Space Fantasy Zone

NO

This game's release was cancelled due to legal disputes between NEC and Sega. The similarities between this game and Space Harrier are basically identical. This version just has a cuted-up makeover. You constantly fly forward while shooting everything that approaches.

Space Invaders - The Original Game

NO

Space Invaders requires no explanation. In this version you can play the original black & white version and many more tuned up styles; different colors or backgrounds. There is a 2-player competitive mode and many more wallpaper backgrounds.

Splash Lake

NO

I love this puzzle game! You're an ostrich who must sink all enemies in the water while not falling in yourself. You peck a floor square to weaken it (it shows cracks), do it again and it will break completely. All islands are held afloat by anchor squares, which cannot be broken or sunk. The formula is to separate pieces of the islands away from the anchor squares so that all those pieces, and the enemies on them, will fall in the water. As you progress you will enter more challenging levels which will require good observation or creativity to win.

Spriggan Mark II - Re Terraform Project

NO

A mecha game with lotsa explosions! My favorite combination!:-D This "sequel" is only in name. It has absolutely nothing to do with Seirei Senshi Spriggan. it's a horizontal shooter but with a storyline that plays during gameplay, NPC talk to each other alot. It gives the game a feeling like you're playing a live story. Every character is given a face and name, all the more depth in the game when they die (ALOTTA people die, feels like a Gundam story). You start out with a Spriggan mecha but in level 3 you get upgraded to the Mark II. You can then select armament setup at the beginning of each mission. The locations range from outer space and asteroid fields to city battles and space colonies. You are armed with alot of weapons, each with a limited amount of ammo. Your shield slowly regenerates to make you last longer. Spriggan Mark II is a must play.

Star Breaker

YES

From what I could tell from the intro scene, you pilot a space fighter which crashes on a planet and very likely your character has amnesia (I might be wrong).
This plays like every other RPG game, but it's good enough to keep me hooked for hours.

Star Mobile

NO

Puzzle game where you let stars of different colors fall one by one on a scale. Each color represents a weight. Your goal is to not let the scale get out of balance or else everything falls off. You must keep it in balance until all the remaining stars of that level have dropped. When that happens and the quota for that level is on the scales, you pass. If not, you lose. It's harder than it sounds. The colors affect each other as well. For example, if you have blue-silver-silver-silver stars stacked on top of each other, putting a blue star on top of that will change all the silver stars in between into blue stars, completely changing the weight and often disturbing the balance making everything fall.

Star Parodia

NO

US release title: Fantasy Star Soldier.
This Japanese version has a cool movie intro not present in the US version. In it you see the bomberman getting catapulted from the space carrier just like Gundam and the PC-Engine being loaded off like a Veritech fighter from Macross! The level 4 music rocks btw!

Startling Odyssey

YES

All I know is, you play the son of the hero from Startling Odyssey II (see below). The game plays like a Dragon Quest clone. It didn't catch my interest for long.

Startling Odyssey II

YES

Theprequel of Startling Odyssey, the story is about a mad scientist who wants to revive the 8 demon dragons. You play as Robin Solford, a knight captain who must rescue the kidnapped princess, fight demon dragons, find out about his family's origins and ultimately save the world. This is a good RPG game, it didn't get boring at all, lotsa anime cutscenes, bigger sprites and better artwork and music.

Steam Heart's

NO

The events take place in the Earth-like world of Westina, a fictional planet that is inhabited by thousands of elven/animalistic people. There are five main parts to Westina, each of which are ruled by a young and beautiful female guardian.
One day, each of these five guardians alongside their fleets began to ravage their own areas in a flurry of violent assaults; Leaving the chaos, two fighter pilots eventually learned of the center of the gaurdian's madness: each guardian had contracted a space-born virus that made them go crazy. The two also learned that there was an antidote to the gaurdian's virus which by an odd twist of fate happened to reside within the semen of the male pilot, Blondia Varandy.
So now the elvan Blondia and his (apparently) adopted catgirl sister Fallandia set out to save their planet by destroying each gaurdian's fleet and bringing the gaurdians back to normal by having sex with them, as well as eradicating the source of the virus. The PCE version is mildly censored. The hardcore hentai scenes are in the PC-98 version.

Strider Hiryuu

NO

Well now, after playing the masterpiece Strider on the Sega Genesis, you'd expect a "masterpiece plus" if the game is ported on CD. Sadly, it was not meant to be. For some reason, entire backgrounds have been removed and there are less colors, the sound effects are inferior as well. But still it's worth playing because the redbook audio music is beautiful and there is an added bonus desert stage. When you fight bosses they show a closeup of their potraits and they vocally say stuff. Cutscenes also have spoken dialogues. This copy only really applies to collectors and avid Strider fans, otherwise stick with the superior genesis version.

Sugoroku '92 Nari Tore Nariagari Trendy

YES

A board game featuring characters from other PCE-CD games.

Summer Carnival '92 - Alzadick

NO

This is just a 2-level demo of a vertical shoot'em up. It was used for tournaments in Japan.

Summer Carnival '93 - Nexzr Special

NO

The full Nexzr game is on this CD and as an extra, the Summer Carnival version has extra modes for score/time attack. Scroll back up for more pics of Nexzr.

Super Air Zonk - Rockabilly Paradise

Japanese release title: CD Denjin Rockabilly Tengoku.
Zonk's design is that of a cybernetic Bonk the caveman. This horizontal shoot'em up can be considered a cute'em up. Character designs are all colorful and cartoonie. You have friends that you rescue and assist you with extra firepower or merge with you which makes you transform into a vehicle of sort, a helicopter or battleship or sattelite and many more.

Super Albatross

NO

A golf game with some dramatic story thrown in for good measure.

Super Cd-Rom2 RPG Sampler

YES

Demo CD containing two games: "Tengai Makyo II - Manji Maru" and  "Dragon Slayer - Eiyuu Densetsu".

Super Daisenryaku

There are many campaigns to choose from based on real life with a different amount of players (you can choose if they're CPU or human, up to 4 players). You start out with a base and buy military vehicles and aircraft to start conquering cities just like your opponent. The more you conquer, the more money you earn to buy more troops. And when combat begins it is shown in a split screen. Each type of unit has its pros and cons against other enemy units. They also have limited ammo and fuel so supplying them is a must. Terrain plays a role too. Only veteran strategy gamers need apply. These campaigns last DAYS!
The English patch is available in the !Translated folder

Super Darius

NO

The plot is about the people of the planet Darius, who are being terrorized by huge intergalatic cybernetic aquatic creatures. The pilots Proco and Tiat are their only hope. You have to collect 7 orbs for each the laser, bombs and shield to level them up to the next level. But this game is unforgiving. You lose all powerups when you die and go all the way down to level 1, you might as well give up. Stages are repetitive showing the same waves of enemies. No continues or extra lives.

Super Darius II

NO

The sequel is more forgiving. You only go down 1 level of power when you die. The sprites are bigger as well (that can be a good or bad thing in a shooter) and better drawn. All the bosses from the previous games appear again a bit smaller as mid-bosses.

Super Mahjong Taikai

NO

Mahjong tournament games with 4 players.

Super Raiden

NO

The classic vertical shoot'em up Raiden. Earth gets invaded by aliens in 2090, and scientist make an experimental fighter jet to fight back.
You have 2 types of main fire (laser and spread) and 2 types of missiles (strong unguided missiles an weak homing missiles) and the obvious bomb.
What else is there to say? It's freaking Raiden!

Super Real Mahjong P II & III Custom

NO

Mahjong strip game. You are shown fully animated strip scenes when the girls lose but only all the way to their underwear. It doesn't go further than that, no matter how much wishful thinking power you may have. I'm guessing the SRM games are called that because the stripping scenes are fully drawn animations in a very good quality way.

Super Real Mahjong P IV Custom

NO

Same as above, keep moving!

Super Real Mahjong P V Custom

NO

OHMYGOSHBOOBIES! This one DOES show them! It was ported to the PC-FX with better quality videos.

Super Real Mahjong Special

NO

SRM - light version. No stripping and no videos in this one.

Super Schwartzschild

YES

Kogado's obscure Schwarzschild series were released on a couple of systems and PC but I can see why they're so obscure. They're all some story-driven space strategy games with a complex albeit weird system. The system never looked interesting enough anyway to get my attention and the language barrier made it even more impossible to get far for me.

Super Schwartzschild II

YES

See above.

Sword Master

YES

Strategy RPG game. No idea what the story is about. A difference I noticed compared to other SRPG games is that moving and attacking cannot be done in one move. You move next to an enemy and that's it. You will have to wait the next phase before you can select to attack. I found the game very difficult, there is a high miss-ratio and enemies can attack you twice in a single round. I suppose it gets better for you as your stats increase later in the game, but it will frustrate alot of people if in the beginning of the game you are faced with such a steep difficulty. The gameplay and animation are pretty good though. I like the possibilty of letting multiple people attack one character by locating them next to the target.

Syd Mead's Terra Forming

Japanese release title: Terraforming.
Getting the obvious first question out of the way: "Syd Mead is best known for his vehicle designs in science-fiction films such as Blade Runner, Aliens, and Tron."
Syd Mead or not, I find this game ridiculously hard. Many backgrounds are very psychadellic and ugly. Iorder you to use the invincibility cheat code to play this game!

Sylphia

NO

In the opening, you are shown a brave warrior girl fighting off monsters to defend people but is ultimately killed. She is brought back to life as a warrior fairy to continue defending the innocent. Pretty original.
Your weapons are element-based: fire, wind and water. Each can be upgraded to become more powerful. I really like the backgrounds in this game, so diverse and detailed. The enemies and bosses are mostly based on Greek mythology, some are really freaky looking.

Tadaima Yuusha Boshuuchuu

YES

A combination of a board game and RPG. I don't know what the ultimate goal is but you select your other two party members, talk to the king for the quests (free villages is one of them), and on the world map you throw a dice. You can walk in any direction you want but the distance is decided by the dice throw. It's you and other AI-controlled arty members out on the same quest, so there is always competition. You can also fight each other besides the normal monsters. Battles are turn-based. This whole game reminds me of "Next King" on the psx/saturn, the gameplays are very similar.

Tadaima Yuusha Boshuuchuu - Sample Disc

YES

Sample disc of Tadaima Yuusha Boshuuchuu.

Taiheiki

YES

Sigh.....another complex feudal Japan strategy game. I couldn't even get into a battle scene with this one!

Tanjou Debut

YES

Training simulation where you select schedules for three idols and guide them to stardom.

Tecmo World Cup Super Soccer

NO

Football game where you can select team setup and the weather conditions. That is all.

Tekipaki Working Love - Hataraku Shoujo

YES

Iguess this is another training sim. I really have no idea what I was doing. pretty much the same thing as its PC-FX version.

Tenchi Muyou! Ryououki

YES

You guide Tenchi around the house and get yourself into various scenarios with the female characters. The story centers around a girl named Hakua from the Galaxy Police who ends up on Earth with Tenchi and the gang for a short time.
This was remade with some graphical and movie upgrades on the PC-FX. (Only as disc 1, the disc 2 is the add-on sequel).

Tenchi wo Kurau

NO

Tenchi wo Kurau (Dynasty Wars in the US arcade) is a beat'em up on horseback. There are 4 selectable characters, each with their own varying amounts of attack power and initial vitality. Aside from unique weaponry, each character also has a unique partner character during a certain special attack. For every 3 blue orbs collected, the player's weapon improves, depending on his current level range.

Tengai Makyo - Ziria

YES

Time for the Far East of Eden trilogy. Tengai Makyou Ziria was the very first disc-based RPG to be released on a console. The game was released twice, the first for regular CDROM2 system cards and the next for SUPER CDROM2 system cards (both in this torrent). Tengai Makyou was able to deliver even bigger games, filled with animated, fully voiced cutscenes and CD music compared to cartridge RPGs. The characters inhabit world known as Jipang, a mystical version of old Japan melded together with ancient myths and legends. The 3 main characters are also based on a Japanese ninja folklore "Jiraiya Goketsu Monogatari": Ziria (pronounced Jiraiya), Tsunade and Orochimaru. (yes Naruto fans, those characters are also based on the folklore all the way down to their summon animals). There is an impressive 3D remake available on the XBOX360.

Tengai Makyo II - Manji Maru  >

YES

Manjimaru is a little boy who justs want to play adventure with his friends until an army of the undead invade the land riding monstrous plants and ask for the body of Manjimaru. After learning of his father's past heroics, Manjimaru begins the path into manhood, which naturally involves saving the land of Jipang. His allies are Kabuki (more on him later), Gokuraku and Kinu. The graphics and gameplay are much better than Ziria's. A 3D remake was ported to the PS2.

Tengai Makyo - Fuun Kabuki Den

YES

This Tengai Makyo title does not get a '3' after it since it's more of a sidestory about Kabuki, the goofy colorful ladies man of an actor. Even the funny intro knocks the III away from the title. (The true TM3 was released on the PS2).
Kabuki will meet other characters from the previous games as well.  Kabuki meets up with Orochimaru and begins to party, until all of the women are mysteriously lifted into the sky. Not pleased, Kabuki sets off to rescue them, only to find out the Daimon Cult is back into action. The trip takes place in Jipang and goes all the way to England. You gotta love the intro movies of the major bosses, they all sing a musical videoclip to introduce themselves!:-D

Tengai Makyo - Fuun Kabuki Den Shutsugeki no Sho

YES

A (pretty large) demo of the full game. You can play the game all the way till your fight against Gold Kanbie (third pic). This is just before you would've gotten your 2nd party member, Zeami. That's DAYS worth of gameplay for a demo. The full game itself is VERY large. All three of them are actually, it takes forever to get your 2nd party member. I never stuck around long enough to get the third party member in all three games.

Tengai Makyou - Deden no Den

NO

Distributed to promote both Bomberman '94 as well as Tengai Makyo Fuun Kabuki Den. This demo version has all the players looking like Kabuki.

Tenshi no Uta

YES

Generic story about god and satan and you being a hero to stop Lucifer's forces.
This RPG game doesn't impress me at all.

Tenshi no Uta II - Da Tenshi no Sentaku

YES

This is better than its prequel but unfortunately requires heavy grinding to be able to advance and survive battles.

Terraforming

NO

US release title: Syd Mead's Terraforming.
I find this game ridiculously hard. Many backgrounds are very psychadellic and ugly. Iorder you to use the invincibility cheat code to play this game!

Tokimeki Memorial

YES

This is the very first of Konami's wellknown high school dating sim series. You plan your daily activities doing various jobs/tasks/chores/etc to improve the stats you are interested in. Each girl is interested in a specific type of guy so for girls who like athletes, you need to buff up, for those who like brainy guys, you need to study alot and so on. Meeting them in specific events is also necessary. There are mini games as well where you can win to impress the girls even more. What makes the Tokimeki so hard apart from other dating sims is that you have to be nice to ALL the girls, even the ones you're not interested in. If one hates you, she will gossip about it to the other girls, resulting in their love meters dropping alot.

Top O Nerae! GunBuster Volume I

YES

Known in Japan as "Aim for the Top! Gunbuster" is an OVA whose director would later direct Evangelion. The game is directly based on it, you are the main character Noriko Takaya, the clumsy cadet training to pilot the complex RX-7 robots, which are used to defend the Earth against insect aliens. This disc is half of the story, telling her ordeals in trying to become better and being accepted by the others until she finally is chosen as a true pilot. It has very little text since it's all made up of short animated movies but there are several choices to be made at certain moments. Picking wrong choices increases a meter, if it fills up it's instant game over.

Top O Nerae! GunBuster Volume II

YES

The story continues in space when Noriko and friends start battling the insects till the very end.

Travel Epuru

NO

A bomberman-like clone where you play a kid in a penguin suit. You fight one-on-one against other creatures throwing various explosives at each other and use whatever powerups appear on the field.

Travelers! Densetsu wo ButtobaSe

YES

Generic average RPG game. That's all I got.

The TV Show

NO

Funny game where your goal is to open some chests in each arena using various types of bombs. Some bounce, some stick others give you special skills while holding them. There are some opponents who will push you around. You have a fixed number of bombs to use to get your way to the chests, it gets harder as you progress and you can get stuck quite easily.
Uchuu Senkan Yamato

YES

Space Battleship Yamato was a wellknown sci-fi anime series during the 70's-early 80's. In this complex strategy / simulation game, you take control of the entire crew on the ship in realtime, you have to be fast in certain situations. For navigation and evasive manoeuvers, you select Daisuke to move the ship around. Yasuo for gun turrets, Yuki for radar, etc etc. All actions are viewed through small and big monitor screens.

Urusei Yatsura - Stay With You

Urusei Yatsura - Stay with You  Ongaku Zenshuu

Valis II

NO

Time passes since the events of Valis and Vecanti is set to rule under its next emperor after Rogles. This new emperor, Megas, wishes to stamp out any trace of the former tyrant, to the point of murdering any supporters Rogles might have had. Furthermore, his bloodthirsty tendencies recognize Yuko and the Valis sword as viable threats to his claim of the throne, and he targets his minions to eliminate her first before she has the chance to thwart him.

Valis III

NO

A black-hearted man named Glames with his sword named Leethus (equal strenght to Valis), threatens all 3 realms with complete destruction. A young girl from the Dream World named Cham escapes from Glames, and seeks Yuka's help to destroy him.
Yuko must now help Cham defeat Glames before the three worlds are torn apart!
Along the way they will encounter Yuka's twin sister Valna, who will also become a playable character. You can switch between the characters at any time, each has their own attack and special moves.

Valis IV

NO

After the end of Valis 3, Yuko ascended into goddess-hood, leaving the mortal world behind. As a result the Valis sword has been passed down to the warrior Rena. But not only has Valna been kidnapped, but the evil lord Gallagher is up the usual evil domination stuff. Rena, along with her sister Amu and the demon Asfa, must stop him.

Vasteel

YES

Taking place in the Vasteel solar system on Belos the 7th planet, the story tells of political unrest that leads to society being split into two factions. The emperor dies after an assassination attempt and now his two sons, Fallial and Stefan, fight each other for control of the planet. Each of them has an army of ATACs, armored combat vehicles. Fallial's strongest ATACs are his space and all-terrain models while Stefan's ATACs excel in desert and aquatic terrains. So terrain will have advantage/disadvantage depending on who you choose to play as.
Combat is done in an action mode where 2 units fight each other or fight against a city's turrent defenses, you can select to control your unit yourself or let the AI do it for you. I find the combat system very stiff and awkward, that's the only major letdown. Otherwise, the game is filled with good story telling and dialogue, in the encyclopedia for example a voice explains detailed info for each unit. The music is ok but it really doesn't suit this sci-fi game.

Vasteel 2

YES

I don't know the story of this or if it's even related to the first game. Two main characters witness their planet being eradicated and the usual revenge plot begins. It plays like every other average turn-based strategy game.

Virgin Dream

YES

Another raising simulation with stats just like Princess Maker and Sotsugyou.

Where in the World is Carmen Sandiego

YES & NO

Even if the PCE version was only released in Japan, you can still select English at the title screen. This edutainment game plays exactly the same as the PC version but with better graphics, animation and music. Ask people to find clues on where to go next to catch Carmen Sandiego and her gang who steal the world's most famous treasures.

Winds of Thunder

NO

US release title: Lords of Thunder.

Wizardry I & II

YES

Oldschool dungeon crawler containing two games: 'Proving Grounds of the Mad Overlord'  'Knight of Diamonds'. Create your characters and go kill monsters. You can go back to town anytime for supplies, healing and other party members.
In the first game your party descends into the dungeon below Trebor's castle to kill Werdna the wizard and in the sequel the city of Llylgamyn is under siege. Llylgamyn's rulers have been killed, and the city's only hope is for the recovery of the staff of Gnilda, only obtainable from trading the mystic "Knight of Diamonds" armor from the legendary Knight of Diamonds to fend off the invaders.

Wizardry III & IV

YES

Same as above. The games this time are: 'Legacy of Llylgamyn'  'The Return of Werdna'. The City of Llylgamyn in threatened by the violent forces of nature. Earthquakes and volcanic rumblings endanger everyone. Only by seeking the dragon L'Kbreth can the city be saved. In the fourth game, you play the villain Werdna, who was defeated and imprisoned at the bottom of the dungeon. You have to fight your way up fighting monsters and heroes alike.

Wizardry V Heart of The Maelstrom

YES

Despite the defeat of Trebor and Werdna, the kingdom of Llylgamyn is obviously still in trouble. So once again, make a party and go kill monsters.

Wonderboy 3 Monster Lair

NO

US release title: Monster Lair.

World heroes 2

NO

A wellknown SNK 2D fighter that plays like Street Fighter II with characters from different time eras.

World heroes 2 Sample Disc

NO

I'm not sure what exactly is the sample part about this. It's pretty complete including the endings.

Wrestling Angels Double Impact

NO

Wrestling simulation game. Even though there are many potraits for all the girls, all the fights look the same using the same models with palette swaps. You select the moves, counters and such and you'll view the action from a frame-by-frame presentation.

Xak I & II

YES

This set contains both the first two Xak series games back-to-back on one complete Super Cd-Rom^2 with enhanced graphics and sound. After the war between the Gods and Demons ended, the world was divided into 3 new worlds: Xak, the world of humans, Oceanity, the world of faeries, and Zekisis, the world of demons. The demon Zemu Badu escapes from his prison in the first game and the hero Latok must defeat him. The sequel involves stopping a powerful demon lord from Zekisis being resurrected into Xak. The gameplay is alot like Ys.

Xak III - The Eternal Recurrence

YES

The Farland kingdom is under attack from a massive demon horde from Zekisis. Ratok takes up his sword again to fight this evil, encounter allies and find out about his missing father. The game is about overhead action / exploration / some puzzles elements. Music is good and there are quitesome gory pixelated deaths in this game. Early on a king and his beautiful daughter get brutally murdered and beheaded by the demons and their corpses thrown away into pieces, yikes!
The English patch is available in the !Translated folder

Yamamura Misa Suspensekinsen ka Kyo e Zara Satsu Jin ji Ken

YES

A Japanese point and click game. That's all I got.

Yami No Ketsuzoku Harukanaru Kioku

YES

I have absolutely no idea what this one is about or how to advance. All yadda yadda text.

Yawara!

YES

Also known as "Yawara! A Fashionable Judo Girl" is originally a manga, it's about Yawara Inokuma, a young girl who aspires to an ordinary life but who, due to her innate talent, is forced to keep practicing judo by her grandfather. From what I could tell, you play the role of a reporter who wants to make a story about Yawara and her judo skills by following her around and asking stuff about her or something.

Yawara! 2

YES

There is more interactivity in the sequel. Quizes and fights are included, though I never figured out how the fighting controls work.

Ys I & II

YES

Ys I & II consists of the first two games released in the Ys series, Ys I: Ancient Ys Vanished and Ys II: Ancient Ys Vanished - The Final Chapter, with enhanced graphics, a Red Book CD audio soundtrack and animated cut scenes.
You play as Adol Christin who searches for the six Books of Ys. They contain the history of the ancient vanished land of Ys and knowledge about the evil forces currently sweeping the land of Esteria. Ys II continues immediately after you beat Ys I. Together they're really one large game. Other than that Ys is pretty much a wellknown standard type of game every oldschool gamer knows about, running into enemies and such.

Ys III: Wanderers from Ys

YES

After the events of Ys I & II, Adol and his friend Dogi go to Dogi's hometown and find that the people there are being opressed by the king. So Adol goes to investigate what really is going on.Kinda considered to be the black sheep of the Ys series because it's a sidescroller instead of the top-down view, it's a hit or miss game. Some like it, many don't. Try it out for yourself.

Ys IV: The Dawn Of Ys

YES

Two Ys IV games were made, 'Dawn of Ys' and 'Mask of the Sun' (SNES). Dawn of Ys is non-canon. It takes place between Ys II and Ys III. Adol returns home and you will meet all his old friends and people he met from previous games (even an enemy or two later on!) The setting this time is the land Celceta. The gameplay returns to its root and looks the same as the original Ys. Adol's enemies this time are the Clan of Darkness, they want to resurrect their leader. One cool ability is that there is magic which can transform you into a monster, you cannot attack or be attacked and all monsters will talk to you, sometimes give you plot hints.
The English patch is available in the !Translated folder

Yu Yu Hakusyo - Yamishoubu! Ankoku Butoujutsu

NO

Based on the manga/anime, you play as the main characters and fight from a first person view shooting at your opponent or their attacks using a cursor. It's very hard, your opponent is moving/running/jumping most of the time making aiming extremely frustrating and will wear your fingers down quite a bit.

Zan - Kagerou no Toki

YES

The last one! I'm saved! No more games of this genre to play and review, I'm so happy I could cry!:weep:

Zero 4 Champ

YES

Some drag racing simulation game. I found it too strange to figure out how to play.

Zero Wing

NO

DON'T EVEN THINK IT!  There is absolutely no 'All Your Base' reference in this version! No Katz, no Zig, no set us up the bomb! The gameplay appears to be identical to its genesis version though but there are several anime cutscenes between levels and the story is obviously completely different this time.
